    chinups and pullups

    Do chinups and pullups also work the shoulders - anterior, medial or posterior.

    it'd hit them more or less as supplementary muscles or stabilizer muscles. less of lateral though, more of anterior and posterior, depending on which kind of pullups/chinups you're doing (behind neck or normal).

    Perhaps I'm wrong, but I think that Chin-ups work the entire upper-body, even the chest.

    There's a saying: If you go to jail and you are allowed only one piece of workout equipment, go for a chin-up bar.

    I am glad you ask this question. Chins will work your anterior delts mainly. But one thing I have noticed is ever since I added weighted behind the neck pullups back to my workout program my back and delts have exploded. Behind the neck pullups widen the entire shoulder girdle and upper lats like no other. But more importantly they hit the medial-posterior delt tie-ins which is ALL IMPORTANT for width. I know they get a bad rap around here but I feel they are safe if you do them very strictly and only once a week.
