This has been one of the noob questions that has been bugging me and i would like to know how often should i increase the weight that i am working with. I heard somewhere that you should pretty much increase it by 5lb a month. Whats the average time for an average bodybuilder to increase weight, lets say bench. SO if i can bench 150 in november i should be maxing 155 in december, right? Forgive my noobness! Thank You!

hey bro,
I usually go up whenever my body lets me. try going up 5lbs at a time each time you bench. I remember starting benching in 11th grade starting with just the bar which is like 45lbs hah, by first year of college i was doing 185. What helps is a spotter that will keep pushing you to do more. After 3 years of not working out at all I'm back down to 115lbs basically starting over again which totally sucks.

Gradual, yet steady
From what I've read and my VERY limited experience, for bench presses you want a rep range of 8-10 or 10-12. Whith each workout, push yourself to do 3 or 4 sets at your maximum rep range and when you can without failure, move up in weight at your next workout and reduce reps to lower rep range.
