    How to Avoid overtraining

2xper week I go hiking for about an hour
1xper week I ice skate for 2 hours

I do this for my enjoyment, and also have decided to use it as my cardio

My question is...these activites involve a lotta leg work. So, should I continue to lift weights w/my legs? And if so, should I use heavy or lighter weights?

IMO...continue with the leg training. cardio alone wont be sufficient to work legs, but rather than using severa exercise,s stick only to the basics...compound lifts. a routine for ur legs such as squats, SLDL and calf raises should be sufficient. experiment with sets and reps whilst still ice skatin an hikin...find out wat works best. g'luck!

    got legs?
formally known as eggy wont grow

same rule about my "got ____?" applies

    you sad, little man...

We've answered this question before, continue to lift as heavy as you can. You don't stop doing legs because you're doing cardio. You don't lift lighter reps for whatever reason until you're deep into cutting and you start going short of failure for safety reasons.

If you are that concerned about overtraining your legs then why not just schedule your skating and hiking days around your leg days or vice versa. If you train legs really hard then I would not do those other activities for at least 48 hours after.
