numbers have to face in..end of story
now..in my gym we have like 5 different types of plates floating around. I used to really obsess over getting matching 45's, matching 10s etc. Now I dont obsess quite as much
now, say on squats or bench, I might find a matching pair for the inside pair, but then I just grab whatever as I add plates
There was this strong dude in our gym for a while...benching over 4 weighing 198ish. he used to like to do drop sets sometimes so he'd load up with a crapload of 10s. So he is loading up one day and i was like "uhmm, u know youve got some kilogram plates mixed in dont you?" (we have some 5k plates, which r 11 lbs) he just shrugged like "so?"
lol
one thing that I see that IS wack is people deadlifting with the inside plate not matching. makes a big difference in our gym because we have some ivanko plates with the grab holes and they are bigger diameter than other plates. So if you are mixing and matchign on deads that means u have one side of the bar like 1/2" or 1" lower, lol
another time I was squatting what I thought was 315 and dude came up and said "315 huh?". Then he said 'wait, 305'
hehe, I had a 35 on one side instead of a 45. I had already done one set of 5 or whatever. i THOUGHT it felt funny"Humility comes before honor"

the plates at my gym have the #'s on both sides. so that doesn't matter to me, however i have to have all the plates in the same position. as in the #'s at 12o'clock on all the plates. why? i have no idea, i just like it that way!

I like to have the same type of plates on both sides (for example, the same brand 45's). Other then that, no. I think the plates are the same on both sides though.
Bodybuilding is 60% training and 50% diet. Yes that adds up to 110%, because that's what you should be giving it. Change the inside, and the physique will follow.

numbers facing in. When I first started I had always had them facing out because i thought it looked better but then one day this kid told me the plates should be facing in because his uncle told him any other way is dangerous?? It didn't really make sense but to this day I've been facing the plates in cuz of what that kid said with no real logical reasoning behind it. oh and all the plates have to be matching. I'm anal about that. If it doesn't look right and I see it before I lift it then I feel weird when i'm lifting.
It shouldn't really matter though right a silver 45 should be the same as a black 45 right?Force Factor Log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=142378451&p=833477401#post833477401

When I first started I had the plates facing out so I would know how much weight is on the bar and to this day I still follow that. It's a pain in the ass to me when I'm all discombobulated from a heavy set to figure out if that's a 25 or 35 on the bar.

what about this. Does it drive u crazy that guys dont know how much weight they have loaded?
I mean, like this one guy in our gym. One of the bigger guys, gets lots of looks and compliments etc. Dude always asks me how to load 255 or whatever.
to make it more complicated this other guy wrote him a bench program with all these "odd" numbers like 290. So dude spent 10 minutes scratching his head trying to add up the plates.
I mean, this guy doesnt even know AUTOMATICALLY that 2 plates per side is 225. he has to think or ask someone.
for whatever reason I think thats wack.
I went thru the same thing when I did a sheiko program where its all these percentages etc. I had to keep the 1.23 and 2.5 lb plates handy unless I felt like rounding up.
That was in 05 and I havent quite beat my bench max from then which was 322.5, lol. that was using the 1.25lb plates etc. people ask me "whats your bench max?". im like "322.5" and they just look at me funny and walk away really slow"Humility comes before honor"

My gym has the same sort of thing and I always see people benching and stuff with big plates on one side and smaller plates on the other side. Even though they weigh the same, there is no way in hell I'd be doing it. Just looks plain wrong like, they gonna tip over at any time!
