Muscle soreness: How long do they last?

Last week i hit my triceps extremely hard after taking a month off to go on vacation. Its still extremely sore today. I feel the great soreness on both arms when i bend at the elbow to flex. Even feel it at the shoulders.

Its been almost a week now. IS this normal?

1 day all the way to 1 week for me

It might not be normal.. The only time it hurts for a week is if I add more weights to my workoust.

1 day or 2 days is normal.

Check you're getting enough protein, enough sleep (to repair), and enough rest (check you aren't overtraining).

    1 week isn't normal.

well... not working out for a month, this is very common. just tough it for a couple more days and it will start to fade.

    blah

Two days should usually be the maximum amount of time muscle needs to repair itself, this may depend on the muscle though, quads may hurt longer than forearms beacuse of the size.

If it hurts for a long time it may be because it cant repair itself because of diet/protien intake.
