To lock out, or not to lock out

In your guy's opinion, is it better to lock out during pushing exercises for the upper body (mainly with reference to Bench Press and Shoulder Press), or pull up just short of lockout?

Moreover, does it matter how low you go? With benching I don't have this problem, however, during military press and db shoulder presses, I am not always totally sure how low I should bring my elbows. Is 90 degrees sufficient?

Locking the joints puts unnecessary stress on the joints, and takes tension away from the targeted muscle. For range of motion, going to 90 degrees should be sufficient.

Don't lock out, keep tension on the muscle.
I bring the weight down to shoulder level.

Why not do both? And from there, either take and use em as variety in your workouts or do the one which you feel works better..
There are always two choices. Two paths to take. One is easy. And its only reward is that it's easy - Anonymous
