    Glutamine timing- need scientific help

    I've been taking a glutamine supplement for some time- Glutacell- which is supposedly more stable and digests more efficiently. I was wondering if anyone knows the 'perfect' timing to take glutamine. I know that because of its anti-catabolic effects, it can be helpful to take before/after a workout and before bed to help stave off muscle catabolism overnight. Anyone know if taking it in the morning would help with anti-catabolism during the day?

    i say never too, but if you insist on taking it, post workout would be the only time your body could utilize it. the amount is kind of weird. so much gets used by the gi tract, i would say 30grams. maybe some glutamine advocates can advize in this area.

    bump..

    Im was planning on taking glutamine along with protein, i've read good things and how it is suppose to help with recovery and other things. Can you guys elaborate more on why it's such a waste of money. Thank you

    so if glutamine does nothing, then why does glutamine make up 2/3 of all amino acids???

    it helps with recovery, brain function, and your immune system feeds off of it.

    the only 2 times that you become deficient in it is when your body is under stress, ie. when your sick and when your working out.

    i prefer to take creatine just b4 and after my workouts, and you shouldn't take creatine and glutamine too close together because they well fight for absorbtion.

    I take a glutamine/nos combo by metrx right away in the morning on an exmpty stomach, which has 10 gr of gluatamine, and 5 gr more in the evening.

    also, if when u take gluatmine by itself, if it gives u an upset stomach that is because it reacts with the acid in your stomach, so just take it with some milk or bread, etc.

    Supplementing with free form l-glutamine does not survive the gut. This has been covered numerous times by numerous studies. It does little to nothing for the immune system and does not elevate blood glutamine levels.

    You already get plenty of glutamine if you consume whey and eat a high protein diet.

    Wish I had been here for that. Bitch at GNC suggested Glutamine about 2 months ago and I've been using it every day. Almost empty now so might as well keep using it till its all gone. Nothing goes to waste in this house. Does this stuff burn well?

    this thread is pointless, like I say in every other glutamine thread. because the people who dislike glutamine refuse to not just state what i am about to state "Some people like glutamine some people don't. I like it and use it( or if you don't just fill it in) the best way is to try it yourself, use it for a few months, if you don't like it don't buy it again" Now was that, that hard? I love you guys but some of you think you know everything and refuse to be just alittle wrong.

    pogue there is not one study that says it's useless and not one study that says it isn't useless. So again it is a matter of personal opinion, explain to me why I never get sick when i'm on it but when i get off i always get sick. Or how about when i didn't workout for awhile, I took glutamine I didn't lose much size but when i didn't take glutamine i lost more. U ognna tell me i'm wrong? Some like it some don't
