Anyone ever tried bench pressing with chains on the bar? I understand that as you lift the bar the weight increases because of the chain but what would the benefit be for doing this?

Yes, as you bring the weight up from your chest the weight increases from when you were bringing it down because obviously your lifting the chain with it. I've never actually tried it because I don't know where to get one. I'm not trying to hijack your thread...but does anyone know where you can buy these chains?

Yep , if you got a striong lockout you put the chains in there to increase the load where you are stronger in the R.O.M , this gives you ~ equal overload throughout the range
5'11 @ 220lbs.
