Nice group of San Diegans ITT.

Anyways, I had a 1980 Honda CM400 Cafe Racer. I liked it but I had to part ways. It was great riding on the streets and got lots of compliments. On the freeway, it wasn't that fun. Going 55 MPH was about as safe as I felt because it felt as the bike was not heavy enough to keep up with the blow of the air. Sold it several years ago and now I'm looking for a Harley. When I buy one, I'll post a pic of it.

Between COVID, Business and Family haven't had much time these days. Finally got the bike out today. I have one bike with a bad battery, I got chase down. Probably just have to break down and buy the battery.

The other one I finally got to start, and managed to steal forty five minutes for a quick ride in the sunshine. Feels good mane...

Nice man! I myself just bought a 2018 Cbr300r. The black/red combo. I just want something to cruise some back roads on the weekends on. Probably won't ride much during the week since I usually stay home until time for work (night shift).

Took the msf course last year so it's been a while and need to practice a lot. Mainly slow speed maneuvers and I need to find a fast way to show gate guards my id to get on base. Annoying as phuk because they have to scan them.

Any riders here in the Va Beach area?

Got in my first crash (collision) a few weeks ago. Hit the side of a car turning in front of me (multi lane rotary) bounced off them before slamming into the road. Other than bashing my head into the pavement, which caused zero discernable damage (thanks shoei!), got a skinned knee, a bit of internal pain on my ribs but no broken bones, and a 3 inch laceration on my elbow (through the elbow pad, who knows how bad it would've been without). All in all not bad all things considered.

My crash bars took 99% of the damage, living up to their name. My front brake handle was screwy and the brakes wouldn't apply correctly. My insurances policy is to replace anything that got damaged, even if miniscule, so they're replacing the entire exhaust which got scraped up (though maybe it was more seriously damaged, couldn't tell before they towed it), crash bars (which were heavily scraped and slightly bent but still functional I thought), and all the other bits and bobs. Let's just say the total cost is more than half of what I paid for the bike, but my deductible is relatively tiny. Based on what I saw immediately after, I would've only replaced the brake lever, but hey, I aint going to complain. They're replacing things that were already scuffed when up when I bought it (slightly used) so uh...go right ahead. They're even replacing my 3rd part crash bars with suzukis official ones, which I actually kinda would've preferred so...all good!

    Conclusion:

Wear a helmet, wear gear, have insurance.

Last rode about 5 years ago. Wife and I talked last year that when we paid off her master's degree I would start looking.

Well, stopped into a local Kawasaki place today. Damn that place was barren Not a whole lot left to buy. Guy there said they've never been selling bikes faster and he's been there 40 years. Researching more into the Z650 now. Plan on going back early next week again to look again. Out the door price of like 7300. I've never owned a new bike before and kind of wanting to treat myself this time around.

I started with an 800, and I am glad I did. I also learned how to ride from you tube lol. I know I'm crazy, but after having my permit for a year I eventually took a course and go my license.

A naked bike is geared different from a sportbike. They are more suited for general riding where as a sport bike is mainly suited for riding a track or twisties. z650's are not overpowered at all and are a great starter bike for a smaller dude.

If you're 5'8 or taller I'd probably be looking at the Z900.

When I decide to get a new bike I'm gonna test out the Z1000's. I like the look of that line. A rear fender delete and removing mirrors makes them look badass.

    Dah ****, youtube? lol.

Only thing I knew about motorcycles getting into them was how to spell the word and that they only have two wheels. MSF course was awesome, and I'll say understanding how a manual trans works and experience driving them in cars helped a lot as well. Didn't really have to think about the cutch and switching gears.

My first bike was a Honda Shadow in the 600 flavor.

Like you I already had a good understanding of a manual transmission my first car was stick shift, and I didn't learn till i drove it off the lot. I'm a bit unorthodox with things. First weekend I had my 800 tiger triumph I took it to the mountains close by to figure out the twisties. I remember getting home being thankful I was still alive. YouTube did help but there was also this movie it might still be on YouTube called "flick of the wrist" by Keith something, and it's like a 90 minute video on the art of cornering. Highly recommend it to all beginners. The mfs course is highly encouraged too, I admit I probably should have done that even before I got a bike.

Went poking around today at... 7 different dealerships. Didn't get further than 16 miles from my house so not bad lol.

Found two identical Z650s, and gave the second place the out the door price of the first, so we'll see what happens. I'm waiting till Monday after I have my plumber test my sewer system on my house for leaks. If it passes, it's happening. Replaced the sewer lines for $22,000 two years ago. House foundation is moving so engineer wanted to rule out a leak.

Well I have about 75 miles on the Z650. I'm doing my best to break it in per the manufacturer. So staying under 4k and about 55 mph.

Still have to improve a lot at rev matching as it's just more sensitive than my old bike.
