    I race motocross.

    2007 KTM 144 SX

This is my last year riding the small bike class I think.

    I'll be on a 250 or 450 next year.

I really like 2 strokes, but 4 strokes are obviously what's up now.

I'd like to get a sport bike this year, but racing and University are expensive.

How do YOU like the auto tranny?
    I've read mixed reviews.
Most say it's liveable, but it would be a better bike with a regular clutch/tranny setup.

I love it. Remember, it's not a true Auto tranny - its just an Auto clutch. YOu still have to shift. Once you figure it out, it shifts flawlessly and down shifts great. The key is keep steady throttle pressure while shifting. Normal tendency is to back off the throttle while engaging the clutch then shift. The bike does all the clutching for you, so you just shift within the necessary RPM ranges and keep the throttle steady.

    Canada doesn't count
Not a state and you guys talk funny...

How long can you ride up there until the roads get dangerous anyway?

    I've become a big sissy
it's in the low 50's here in the AM and I'm driving the car and riding after lunch, I just got my zip out liner today and zipped back in
I used to ride in So Cal down to the low 40's upper 30's (I only had 10 miles of cold as hell and then hit the coastal plain where it was 50+)

I went out this morning and it was 37.5 F degrees. Did fine cept for my finger tips were getting really cold. Lucky my ride is only 40 minutes.

I need them handlebar wind blockers things, or heat grips/gloves to do much more than an hour i think. Or take frequent breaks.

I think ill be fine, but when the salters come out, im done.

they make 'glove sleeves' that will pretty much block ALL wind, but they are almost like mittens, so it's all 4 fingers to brake
do you have a Halo - helmax for the helmet? I used one, it really helps, like a balaclava that doesn't go around the head

do you have a Halo - helmax for the helmet? I used one, it really helps, like a balaclava that doesn't go around the head

Wanted a more streetable motor (more torque), easier ergos, better passenger accommodations for the wife, and aesthetically my taste has shifted from the repli-racers and more toward the hooligan-esque naked sport/muscle bikes (uh oh..am i getting old?). I love the Duc Hypermotard and Streetfighter

I've done the exhaust, hacked up airbox with BMC race filter, Power Commander, modified secondary flies, a few other little goodies...the bike is a beast now...~148HP/79 ft-lbs at the wheel.

haha I was taught to just use all four fingers, although I don't know if I need em all. I don't ever have to squeeze very hard, but that's what they're teaching nowadays.
