Motorcycle Riders

I'm going to be shopping for a bike too.
Looking at midsize naked from Yamaha, Kawasaki or Honda. Like 650/700ish.

I rode a bike in the past when I was a teenager. It was my uncle's. It has a sidecar though used as public transportation back in the Philippines (Tricycle).
That's where I learned how to use the gears but it's like 30 yrs ago lol. So I consider myself a complete beginner so any advice would be helpful. I'm scheduled for an MSF class in late October.
