Seems fine. I've only driven it ~2mi. I am waiting on insurance & plates.

[QUOTE=ctgblue;354315861]those look like wicked fun, similar to the original KTM Duke that started it all, not big enough for me, but would be fun to ride, I'm sure[/QU

Steps, curbs, medians...it's like a mountain bike with a bunch of horsepower. The KTM is really nice, might be my next upgrade because the DRZ does have its limitations.

Has plenty of power. Its bout the same speed as my WRX, maybe faster, and feels much more torquey. You can do highway speeds no problem. Getting up to 90 is a breeze.

Ill prolly upgrade to a 1200 next yer or the following year. Its like $500 parts + labor.

so the 883 isn't to much motor to handle as a first bike? did you do any riding before you bought this bike?

I never road a bike in my life. Jumped on it and just started riding.

No 883 is very easy for a newb. The powerband is very linear and there are no suprises. The bike also has a very low center of gravity, so its easy to handle.

Ive out on 900 miles already, and i havnt dumped it yet.

This was my biggest fear of getting my bike. I've never rode in my life. Never been on one until I did the safety class on a 125cc bike. The next bike I was on was the one I bought which was a 1500. The only hard part is leaning in the corners. The bike is close to 700lbs compared to the 240lb bike I took the class on. But I've only ridden it about 2mi so far. Still haven't got insurance or plates on it.

In that particular configuration it's roughly the equivalent of a modern 250 or maybe an anemic 500. No, it's not too much motor.

    I've got one for sale.

If anyone from here want's it - it will be 3500.

1995 cb1000 very rare in nearly perfect condition. Runs and rides like new. Cosmetically very near new. I have suffered a severe back injury that will not let me ride again. She's grubby as hell and needs a good cleaning - I can't and I haven't yet forced the stepson to. Previous owner slid her down on each side in very low speed situations. I was going to grind out and polish the remaining minor damage but have not had the opportunity and can't now.

In the world of people who fix things. I had intended to grind and polish out the two covers I can't find new parts for but have injured myself to the point that I can't. It runs perfectly, everything on it works perfectly. Other than the 5mph tip over scratches, it's as new. They were imported for only 14 months during 94 and 95 - you ever tried finding parts for something like that? No, I didn't think so.

If you followed any of the threads I start you would know I take old, rare and/or banged up things and make them right.

The bike is 525lbs DRY. It's too tall for anyone under 6'5".

Go find one that hasn't been tipped over.

Hell, don't go find one. Show me what you've completely torn down to nothing and rebuilt to new or better than new specs lately.

Edit: I shouldn't be pissy. I apologize. Listed her on ebay at 1:00pm and had 4 watchers by 4:00pm.

I can't ride due to a back injury. I will probably never ride again. Near perfect - yes. It was a a dented up and bent up wreck when I got it.

Go read my threads on fixing her up, and fixing up a half dozen other basket case projects to new or near new condition. Then you come back here and give me grief about scratches on the stator and clutch cover.

Torn this thing down to nothing and reassembled, perhaps not to the original quality or fashion but I fancy myself quite capable with cycles. But lets be honest with ourselves, most cycles (especially old jap bikes) are pretty easy to work on.

But I apologize if I offended you. It is a clean looking bike and I shouldnt have taken issue with your terminology.

I'd love to see some of your bike projects if you got any pics to upload.

Took my first real ride today. Hopped on the highway this morning. It wasn't bad except the cold wind. Kinda unnerving hitting 70-75mph on two wheels.

Ah, I remember the good old days when getting on the highway was still a rush. Man I wish we had some cold wind down here though, last time coming back from Austin around 4 PM the marque of a building right on the highway read 113 degrees.

I prefer warm wind. When I left on the ride it was misty out, the road was a little wet, and the wind were coming in big gusts. My legs started shaking because I was so cold. lol... But I told the wife I was going on a bike ride with a buddy. Which I did go on a bike ride.....to go skydiving. I couldn't very well just turn around and grab my truck. That would've looked suspicious. Yes, she had no idea was going to jump out of a plane.

I'd love to see some of your bike projects if you got any pics to upload.
I only have a few pics of bikes after the work was done. I have a couple boat threads with complete tear downs though. Just do a search with my name and threads started by.

No apology needed. I may have been a tad over sensitive - I don't want to sell that bike. I can't in good faith let it sit and rot though.

Makes those highway rides a little nicer, though.

I am looking at the Memphis Shades - Memphis Fats detachable windshield with the trigger lock mechanism, so I can remove it for around town and summer time.
But will need it come fall and for long distance cruising

Hey guys what would you say is a good amount of miles to get to for a riding season (here in IL it's not that long). I am trying to get to 1,000 miles this summer on this bike, but at the same time the 250 CCs are becoming to small for me. I feel like I need a bigger bike, but at the same time I want to get a lot of miles in on it.

Ha sorry, not sure why I wrote that. It was a plenty powerful motorcycle it just didnt give me that charge out of the gate snap your neck feeling. But then again it's a big enduro and not a road
racer. I suppose its good to have linear power delivery when your steering a 500lbs bike off-road.
