    You too, BPP.

Just be prepared to learn how to maintain it or pay through the nose for maintenance. Learn to deal with horrible suspension (yes, even on the much vaunted vrod), learn to deal with very slow, upright, countersteered curves, learn to deal with 1980s style braking, learn to deal with the fact that the entire motorcycle is about as technologically advanced as a 1980 entry level german or japper and you are good to go.

No harley hate here. Just the facts.

I have lots of harley friends that are kind enough to let me ride my bikes with them.
    thanks brah

I think it depends on the area you are riding in. Everytime I have gestured to any rider, they have at least acknowledged my presence. If they didn't, it was because it was near a turn or other slightly unstable area.

I wouldnt bother with the warranty imho. Unless its insanely cheap, no repair is gonna cost you $2k. Plus they are air cooled, not hard to work on.

And you cant have passengers on a nightster. You will need to upgrade to progressive shocks (~$300+), find a duel seat ($150+), and add passengers peg kit ($200+).

First thing you will be doing is adding news shocks, mark my words :-P luls. Also, watch out for speed bumps. THEY WILL RAPE THE BOTTOM OF YOUR BIKE. That bike is low.

But i love the look of them bikes, and they do sound awesome.

I almost forgot - wear earplugs due to the aftermarket exhaust. That way - you will only be damaging every other person you ride by's hearing and not your own.

You can make yourself feel better about damaging other people's hearing by repeating "loud pipes save lives". Never mind the fact that loud pipes only annoy at the least and do damage at the most. Never mind the fact that the only thing that has consistantly saved lives is learning how to properly ride.

helmet usually muffles the sound pretty good, unless its not a full face helmet that covers ears too

I wear plugs under a full helmet regardless of how loud the mufflers are. The wind noise alone at highspeed will f-up your hearing eventually, even in some of the best helmets.

Only time i dont wear plugs is if i know i will not be going on the highway for over 10 or so minutes.

keep ridin' you'll run into it...more common in the big cities than in the country though.

On another note who else digs the muffled serenity on a bike at high speeds with a helmet on?

Hey guys, I thought I would contribute to the thread.

I ride a 1985 Harley Davidson FXR (It's 4 years older than I am!), and so far it's been a blast!

It only took a few years of dreaming and a couple months of work to purchase this bike. It cost me just under $9,000.

It's my first motorcycle, before I got my bike I was into racing motocross (KX 125) but now I'm totally hooked.

My bike is pretty stock except for the the whole front end, the bike now has the "cat squasher" look. But that's pretty much about it.

    Here's some pictures:

I bought it the day of the ACDC concert, August 22nd, 2009. This is the day after the concert.

Needless to say, I had a great time riding it home. I can't wait to start working on it and getting it to what I want even more.

Not bad for a 20 year old eh?

This is true... Most Harleys will not wave to crotch rockets... Thats more like 90% of them... I have a 2007 Hayabusa, where I stopped at a light, and a couple of guys on Harleys started talking to me. That was the only time in my 2 years of riding that bike.

Currently riding a 94 cbr250, cannot wait till july so i can get my full license and go get a triumph daytona.

Also, i generally don't like anyone that says that their brand new ninja 250 is awesome. It's really not. But you ride a bike so i won't burst your bubble.

The 250 is actually a great looking bike.... and it's not like you're going to be pushing your 250 any faster than their 250.

I fail to see why you ""dont like anyone that says their brand new ninja 250 is awesome""
