Awww damn...I feel bad about hating on him now.
Don't get me wrong, I never disliked the guy, just hate the super cena gimmick and I think his belt is crappy...but he always seemed like a damn good guy and an interview he does with fighting spirit magazine makes me think he deserves all the sucess he has, even if I don't like him as champion personally. It's nice to see a good guy and not self serving politicain on top...
anyone else read it? The guy seems humble as hell...he even admits that he thinks that the condemend was a much better movie than his own...
the mag is great on the whole for wrestling fans and has good articles from lance storm and an interview with foley....and its for mma nuts like me too

I don't think Leben is too much cop to be honest....I mostly follow mma through youtube, websites and dvds because I don't have the channel you need in the UK so I haven't seen Kalib....but honestly, I think Leben, though he's kinda good, is more talk than anything...but the kid has heart if nothing else.

I just got that Fighting Spirit today man, look forward to getting stuck into it over the next few days man. Especially if the Cena interviews good. It's definitely my favourite wrestling/fighting magazine to red.
Just out of interest, why don't you have Bravo man?---------------------------

That reminds me, there is a new ufc game coming that should be good...
I have to admit, although I have always somewhat followed mma, I only became a really really big fan through Ultimate Fighter when I picked up the first season on dvd in florida...I liked it because it helped give the fights context.
I am now a huge fan of mma but doubt I would see as much as I do without TUF...

Serious? I need to check that game out. It'll hopefully be better than the old ones now that UFC is so big.
Yeah, I'm the same. I always followed the UFC but not with the same passion as I did after watching the Ultimate Fighter.---------------------------

OT, Mike: I had a rough time dropping weight when I didn't have that much muscle mass. I'm cutting now at around 200lbs; last time I tried I was like 180. It's been a hell of a lot easier this tiem around with the extra muscle. Looking at your lifts, I'd personally recommend a strength-based program (Rippetoe's or Madcow's Intermediate 5x5) and run with that for a solid 2-3 months. Eat clean about 250-500 cals over maintenance daily...
... then again, I guess I should probably ask what your goals are. For all I know you're a fighter and have a weight class to consider. All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

Hey man, my overall goals are too have a better body, I like fighting but it's not something I do overly much and I'm not a member of a club or anything.
I just feel like dropping the bodyfat is something I need to do right now. I've got parties and stuff and holidays with my mate over in Spain and I'd just like to be more comfortable with my body when I'm out. I have a wierd body type and bone structure and I carry quite a bit of fat around my lower gut and hips so I'd really like to drop some of that. Plus, I reckoned once I get down there, bulking while staying leaner would be a lot better than getting ridiculously over what I want to look like. You know what I mean? It's just something that I wanted to do for me, to see if I can do it.
As for my routine, I've tried Rippetoe's in the past and it did help initially but my gym only goes down to 2.5kg plates which doesn't help with small jumps in weight after a while and not being able to mess with rep ranges didn't help me progress as quickly as I'd have liked to. Westside allowed a bit of variety in my program and helped me bump everything up and progress so much faster. I don't gain as quickly as others around me and this has helped greatly. After I get down to where I want to be (160-165lbs) I would definitely consider giving Rippetoe's another shot when bulking upto 180-190 while trying to stay lean.
Anyways man, read into that what you want and we can chat. Thanks for pointing a couple of things out.---------------------------
