Red face Why am I so tired? Anyone else like this?

Why am I so tired? I'm only lifting 3 days per week, 3 compound exercises and some walking 3 or 4 times per week. I get about 7 hours sleep at night. Possibly my diet? Here is todays
    -protein powder, glutamine, skim milk
-2 eggs, 1 yolk, 2 slices whole wheat bread with olivina margerine
    -coffee, cream and splenda
    -apple, almonds
-pork chop, ww spagetti and sauce, nectarine
    -coffee, almonds
-banana, glass skim milk, tbsp peanut butter
    -1 1/2 hour NAP!
    -3 small peices fish breaded(yeah bad I know),cucumber, cherries
I also take omega 3 caps, vit E caps,GNC multi vitamin, and chromium (for hypoglycemia). Is this not enough food? I weigh 110 and am not looking to lose, only maintain and grow more muscular. I also will have some protein before bed and more glutamine. Right now I can hardly type this, so exhausted. I try to eat fairly clean, chicken, tuna, ww bread, eggs, ww pasta, veggies and fruit, almonds, skim milk. What am I doing wrong? Emma-Leigh are you out there? Can you see my problem? It is really hard to critique your own food, it seems good enough to yourself. Thanks for any help, I am just so tired and don't know where to turn. Thanks so much

have you tried taking iron supps? multi vit is good as well.

also looks like you need more food, and another thing is you may be overtrained so take a week off and recover - see how you feel after that.

    Hey,

Sounds like you could be burning yourself out! I have worked out oo hard and ate too little for the last few months and weightloss has been a struggle. the other week I had a "binge" and took time off from working out ended up losing 4 lbs. I realized that the last few weeks my body has been crazy hungry and all the extra cardio was working me silly. By 3-4 in the afternoon I was exhausted!!! And I sleep 8-9 hours a night!

I would first try to give yourself a brake and see how you feel. Eat regular or add a few cals.

After that, perhaps get your iron tested. My iron is a little low (looking at my foods) so I'm drinking a cup of stuff called umeboshi plum paste every night. It concentrasted Japense plums that help with numerous things, but also are high in iron.

    Hope that helps!

    Lucy

Hey thanks, I was going to go buy some iron pills after work today but was just too exhausted to drive there, and pick some out, and stand in line, and get money out, and so on. I must get some tomorrow no matter what. My multi is iron free only because it would be more than double the RDA, and I would rather take the right amount than be overdoing it. And my right shoulder is bothering me anyways so a week off will be good right now. Thanks for the imput, very much appreciated!

It may be as simple as you just NEED more than 7 hours of sleep a night, I know I DEFINITELY do. If I only get 7 hours of sleep for 2 or 3 days in a row I'll fall asleep at the drop of a hat I'm so tired. I've naturally slept for around 10 hours ever since I was a kid, if I get less than that I feel sleepy and am grouchy all day. Some people just need more sleep. And the more active you are the more sleep you tend to need as well.

Just a quick note on iron tablets...You really should see a doctor to determine if you need them. WHile it's important to get sufficient iron, it can be dangerous to take too much (as with most things). Plus, it would help you rule out other possible causes.

I agree w/Ms. Lucy---definitely get some blood work done so you know if it's an iron deficiency that's making you tired. It could be numerous causes, but you don't want to take iron if you don't need it. Those pills the doctor gives you (or that you buy) are hard to digest and constipating, and if you don't need them can be toxic.
If you find you are low on iron, take it from an ex-severe anemic, go with an herbal supplement. No digestive problems or side effects and works super fast.
