Good day illuminaries.....
This is my 'week off' after 12 solid weeks.
When going back to lifting what has everyone experienced.....do you find you can go back to your previous lifting reps/weights or do you find you had to lower the weight a bit for the first week to 'catch up', so to speak?
I could easily presume one wouldn't lose any 'strength' after a week but I defaulted back to this forum for a consensus.
Thanks to all for educating me.

I do splits and body parts twice...so my first split, I do decent weight, but a bit lighter and avg reps. The second half of the week, I go for it...if I feel I cant, I back off..by the second week you're as good as new if not better..imo.
If you think you know it all, you've already failed at knowing anything!

Howdy gents...
Magnumfreak....Ok, that what I was hoping.
Whoa....you are large gentlemen and remind me of my last guitar student who was also 6'8". Not at all obese but he was not in great shape either.
So me, being 5' 10"....needless to say....I passed him!
Nuetrolizr....that makes good sense and of course some 'common sense' has to prevail here also.
My current split is: shoulders/abs/forearms
chest/tri/legs
back/bi/abs again
I've got weights in the garage (doubling as a recording studio area) and about 8 weeks ago purchased a row/lat machine that I'm damn happy with.
I finally have the 'pulling' aspects of lifting covered.
Thank you both for your comments....but don't go far....I'll be manifesting my ignorance again in subsequent posts.
Current progress basics using the MaxOT system:
Age: 60
Flat bench: 190# 6/6/5
Incline bench: 150# 5/5/4
Curl bar curl: 95# 6/6/5
Squats: 130# 12/10/10 ATG
Mil press: 120# 6/6/4

CARL: Wayne,
It is important to keep in mind that there is'nt a distinct time-frame for the length of the layoff. So for one person a week is sufficient but yet for another two weeks to a month is more appropriate. The decision is based on how one is feeling. So if after one week if one does not feel ready to return to their workouts another week or two will not be disadvantageous and in fact may result in feeling stronger and more motivated when that person returns to their workouts.

I've been using the HST program for over a year now and every 8 weeks you are recommended to take a week to 9 days off. One of the factors I like about this program is as you start your new routine the weight is progressive, so especially after a deconditioning period (rest) your not lifting your maximum until further on down the week.
