I'm not going to lie, this thread is pretty righteous.
What was the most beneficial piece of knowledge you had passed on to you? How did you bust through plateaus when you were cutting or bulking? How did your splits/rep ranges differ from contest season and off season? I have tons of questions I want to ask but I don't want to overload you all at once."Go home to your dumbbells, go work on your pecs and your lats! We're all REALLY impressed!"-Elaine Benes (The Parking Garage-1991)

Thanks bro, glad you like it!
I think the best piece of advice I gained from reading the bodybuilding magazine when I was younger was to focus on the basic exercises and train hardcore by using heavy weights and training hard. I'm currently writing a book (to be sold on my website www.naturalolympia.com) on how to get bigger naturally and this is the main focus of the book. So many guys want to get bigger without using steroids and they don't know how to do it. That's what the book is going to be all about.
When I was bulking up, I was stuck at the same weight for 8 months and I could not gain any weight. I finally broke through this barrier by increasing my caloric intake even more and eating that same amount of food every day, even when I didn't feel like it. My body eventually had no choice but to start gaining weight and getting bigger.
I don't really change my splits or my rep ranges when I am trying to get bigger or get ripped. It's really all about the diet and the addition of cardio when I am getting ripped. Too many guys lighten up their weights and try to get ripped by using higher reps but that's not going to help you get ripped. It's all about eating less calories and gradually losing the fat. If you lose too much too soon, you can lose muscle. Natural bodybuilders need to lose fat slowly to keep your muscle mass and strength high as you lose the fat.www.Naturalolympia.com

That's hard to say. When I went into my first open show at 21 years old, I was bulked up to 230 pounds and I started my diet at 12 weeks out. I had never been this heavy before so I never had to lose this much weight. When I was a teen, I only dieted about 3-4 weeks. The diet was working fast enough and I had to resort to drastic measures to lose the fat toward the end of the diet. I think I went down to 800-1000 calories a day and was probably doing cardio twice a day to get cut. I went into the show at 188 and was understandably flat. I learned from that show to diet much longer and lose the fat slower to keep the muscle. That was hell!

Are you talking about the Muscle Mania in Miami? No, I didn't go to see it. I'm dieting now for my contest in about 10 weeks so I don't like to travel too much because I have to bring all my meals with me and it's a pain in the ass. My friend Aaron Reed took 2nd in the show but I didn't see too many pictures from it.

That's pretty interesting. The measurements are about right for that amount of bodyfat although my arms were about an inch bigger than what they predicted but my arms have always been my best bodypart. It says my maximum bulked up weight is 196.8 and I was over 200 pounds this year with about the same amount of bodyfat. In the past, I've gotten to over 240 pounds bulked up but that was when I was younger and I'm sure my bodyfat was a lot higher.

Yes, Aaron works out at my gym. There are so many natural organizations out there. The WNBF used to be one of the biggest but it seems like it's not the same since Rich Fitter left. I compete in the INBA and they are one of the biggest organizations out there. They have a good drug testing procedure because they use WADA, the same organization that used in the Olympics.
