I was reading a thread on a board a few days ago where someone said it would take a lot more than the recommended dose to actually make a difference.
Just remember that when you block that fat, your also blocking the good fats as well as vitamins and minerals.Don't Support Companies that are suing me!!

Sam's Club Protein
I just picked up a 5 lb bad of whey protein from sam's today for $10. I came home and compared it to the $50 stuff I take and there is barely any difference. 24g a scoop, no fat, no carbs and it still tastes good. I am going back to buy several more. I am sure they will be gone before long.

Chitosan and Xenical (Orlistat) are totally different medications with different modes of actions. Orlistat has been proved in clinical trials to inhibit fat absorption (~25-33%), has gone through FDA trials and approval and has years of success behind it (in terms of binding dietary lipids).
Chitosan does not much of anything from what I know. I only know of one study which showed it may reduce about 10-20 calories a day (1-2 gm of fat) a day.
Matthew D. Gades and Judith S. Stern (2003). "Chitosan supplementation and fecal fat excretion in men". Obesityresearch.org (Obesity Research). http://www.obesityresearch.org/cgi/c.../11/5/683?etoc.
The above study refers to unmodified chitosan and supplement companies claim that modified chotsan binds more but there are no studies in humans as far as I know that show that.

Obviously how it desolves in water is not useful info. But the vitamins sold at costco/sams/gnc/etc are all basically crap anyhow, regardless of their absorption. The forms and ratios of vitamins/minerals used are as cheap as can be, none of the better more potent more healthful forms are used in these.
