    Barbell vs. Curl Bar for lying tricep extentions

    When doing a lying tricep extension (skull crusher), is there any difference with using a barbell vs. a curl bar (the barbell with a kink)? Does it work a slightly different angle, etc? Thanks.

    Mostly just for comfort. Most people get sore wrists from the straight bar which is eleviated with the curl bar.

    Also, for a different feel, do skull crushers with a reverse grip. I almost like these better.

    So I went ahead and tried the EZ bar and I thought that was pretty comfortable, might try a barbell on Wednesday, just to compare. Thanks for the replies everyone.

    If you're unbalanced the bar will be raised more by your strong arm. DB's isolate them and keep it balanced. Also the grip will have alot to do with which muscles will be focused on.

    Personally I use both and hit it from every angle.

    Most people eventually switch off of straight bar, once they get elbow problems.
