It doesn't matter how much time hes got to train, he had alot of time to train when ronnie was winning and he lost 5 times in a row. I'm sure ronnie's schedule is crazy as well so its always been even. I don't care if Jay is Mr O now but if ronnie gets his injuries taken care of, he is gonna smoke every mother****er on that stage and even Jay's fans know this. I have all the respect for Jay cos competing at that level takes some crazy dedication but he won by default. IMO they gave it to Jay cos bbing needed a fresh look and Jay been knocking on the door for years. If they were really judging the olympia then Mr O would be a dominican guy named Victor Martinez.

You guys, Ronnie's die-hard fans, still cannot accept the fact that Jay was better than Ronnie at '06 Olympia. This is pathetic. If IFBB gave Sandow to Jay becuase they need a fresh look, then they would have givin some Sandows to Shawn Ray, Kevrone, Flex Wheeler instead of giving Sandows over and over again to Haney, Yates, and Ronnie. Wake up and open your eyes !!!!

Doesn't Jay train twice a day?
In New Improved and Beyond, when Jay was at home, Jay trained twice a day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. In between, he eats several meals.
I recall at one point in the video, after a morning workout, Jay said it would be 5 hours before his next workout and he'd try to eat five meals in that time. He said he would do that because he was at an appearance or show over the weekend and he estimated he lost 10 lbs over that time. I think he mentioned he had another appearance the next weekend so that's why he was trying to put it back on so quick.
But if you assume he spends 3 days at an appearance or show, he gets 4 days back at his home. And with his discipline, he'll work out 8 times in those 4 days. And try to eat to match. He'd probably like to spread it out if he can, but he's a professional and fulfills all his appearance obligations.
You're right though, Jay probably does more appearances than anyone else in bodybuilding, certainly more than Ronnie. Ronnie's content to stay at home and train and only show up for the big stuff; not that Ronnie's lazy, he just doesn't like all the public relations stuff. Even Jay is not a huge fan of it but he really is all about helping out the sport. Few people like to travel, and that goes double for bodybuilders because it disrupts their meals and training...

Dexter has added mass slowly over the years which is why he has gotten bigger WHILE keeping his lines.
If the judges did it for the sole reason that bodybuilding needed a fresh look Jay, or anyone other than Ronnie, would have won in 04 when Ron showed up horribly off. The reason Jay won in 06 was cus he looked better.
For years, people were saying Ronnie was unbeatable, and now the door has been opened for other people to win...including Ronnie again if he sorts things out.

The problem with Dexter is that he is slow to add mass (maybe because of his high metabolim or whatever). Meanwhile, guys like Melvin, Victor, or Phil have ability to add mass more quickly while keeping their lines too. That is why Victor already surpassed Dexter, and Melvin seems to follow suit soon.

Jay looks fantastic, with such great shape, size and low body fat for this time of the year.
Ronnie does not. But, going by those pictures he has made some improvments .
His left bi has improved but still is noticably unattractive. Also you cant really judge becuase going by that angle your not getting a proper view of the left bicep because of the lighting. ALthough I still dont think he has that cut underneath and general shape as the right one.
His left lat also looks improved but again the angle isuse and no back shot.
Over all he has improved on his weak spots but has gained some body fat and looks like the old off season Ronnie we knew, but not that its a bad thing.
We dont know what the future will bring, or what muscle Ronnie is hiding behind that fat.
At the end of the day, at this level of bodybuilding its not what you have but what you dont have. Ronnie is seriously lacking but has made some promising improvments. if he keeps it up he may have a chance. I personally thing even if he didint have his flaws Jay is still way ahead and its not just the lower body fat levels he has. Jays carrying some muscle.

Ronnie wasn't horribly off in 2004 at all... that was one of his most dominating years ever. Watch the show again... it was over before it started. You keep referring to 2004 as if it was an off year... It wasn't.
Dexter Jackson said straight to Ronnie's face on camera at the night show, "I cant beat Ron, he is just too damn big. I'm coming for 2nd place!"
When you have "arguably" the second best bodybuilder in the world conceding before the show is over... you definitely know you are dominating the competition.

What the heck are you talking about?? You cannot use that argument to support that Ronnie dominated in that year.
In 2004, Dexter got 4th place. He is not arguably the 2nd best in the world in 2004, when you said he conceded before the show was over. (And if you wanna talk about other years which are irrelavant in this case, the only year Dextor got 3rd place was 2003 and he was not close to 2nd place at all.......see scorecard for reference)

man that is so wild to me that these guys can train 1-2 days a week then just turn it on a few months before the "O" and look great. It's nuts man.
That's no knock on jay either as I know plenty of pro's to this because of their schedule.
It is funny how things change though isn't it? I remember reading quotes from jay after 2004 or 2005 with him saying he would be hitting it hard 2 weeks after the "O" and not missing any trainng days, etc. Now he it is May and he is going to the gym 1-2 times a week.
I mean look at Ron too for most of his career he was training 6 days a week, barely taking time off. The more O's he won the busier his schedule then next thing you know it is a 3-4 month layoff and he doesn't turn it on hard until may or june.
Now ronnie loses and he gets back in the gym way sooner, cuts back on the guest appearances, traveling, etc.
It is truly amazing what winning and losing does to you mentally regarding work ethic, training, dedication, etc.
Again, phoenix that is no knock on jay. Just more of an observation of all bodybuilders.

Hey there deep-red.
I just used it successfully thanks bud. Gustavo beat Dex by only one-point... and it was decided by the newly created and extremely controversial challenge-round. I think Dexter's opinion is a little more important than the reddest Ronnie hater on the boards who spams the same pic thousands of times and talks out of his ass.

I understand what you are saying. However, please don't mistake all of this for a lack of work ethic, lack of training or dedication. Jay absolutely loves being Mr. Olympia and everything that comes with it. However, the downside (in my opinion) is that he doesn't have time for anything, even time for himself and his wife, or training as much as he wants for that matter - he's crazy busy and probably needs to hire a small full time staff to keep up with everything he's got going on right now. Not to mention, his mail order business has grown so much that this would be a full time job for you and I, its just nuts.
Just to show you how crazy his schedule has been, after he got back from Pittsburgh and Massachuttsets (sp) last week, he didn't get home until late on Tuesday night. After watching the Suns/Spurs playoff game, he went to the gym to train Legs, at 11pm at night! If that's not dedication, I don't know what is....I know I'm sleeping at 11pm at night.
This is why Jay is staying in relatively good shape this year - he'll gradually diet down and be ready. I know pictures don't really capture how good these guys really look in person, but let me tell you, he looks great right now and with some serious time in the gym, he's going to be tough to beat this year as well.

No matter how u tried, your argument is still stupid, bro. Even if Dextor got 3rd place in 2004, nobody would argue that he should have got 2nd place in 2004. He was not close to Cutler in term of scores.
Oh, I don't give a dang whether I am in red or green. It does not mean sh*t to me if you got 500 rep power, and I got none.

I like ronnie but I'm not a big fan of his so I'm not trying to defend him here. Ronnie was the best on stage in 04. Jay prolly got robbed in 2001, but he would've won the sandow in 02 but he didn't compete so he had to wait till ronnie messed up again. Let all be realistic here, if both guys are 100% there is no way Jay is beating ronnie period.

oh no doubt, like I said I wasn't dissing jay. Hell it takes great dedication to travel all over the damn place and pass up time with family and doing things you'd like to do. I'm sure he has a hell of a schedule.
IN 2004 I got to hang out with ron the wednesday before the arnold and honestly it was too much for me, I couldn't handle it. His phone never stopped ringing, personal calls business calls, etc. It never ended.
Jay sounds like the same if not worse.

I didn't know he went overseas, although I should have known (all those Olympia finalists, including Ronnie, go to some European shows after the O).
Yeah, being overseas definitely changes the equation, you're figuring a day to get there, a day to get back, plus 2-3 days there, Jay's probably lucky be be home for 2 days that week. Not to mention the jet lag, can't imagine heading to the gym being jet-lagged all to hell...
But I'm wondering, and Phoenixbuff you might know this, does Jay ever train while on the road? Maybe if it's a weekend trip he wouldn't bother, but I'd imagine if it's more he'd try to find a local gym to train at. I know he once mentioned in one of his vids that he takes his rice cooker and foreman grill with him on the road so he can stay on diet. I'd think if he's willing to do that, it wouldn't be too hard to find a local gym. One that's open late, since he's probably not done with business till later on...
In "On the Road", Ronnie trained while in Australia, but part of the purpose of that trip was to film him working out. He had some complaints about the equipment but it seemed like he had a pretty good workout...

Yes, Jay does train on the road. However, during his trip(s) to Europe this year, it's been tough to train due to the lack of equipment over there, or a lack of a gym near the location he's appearing at. In the U.S., Jay does train on the road. He trained at Venice Golds last week when he was in LA for an appearance at Dave's store. When we went to Montana earlier in the year, he didn't train because of our crazy flight schedule - he was dead tired. He always carrys food with him while on the road, that I can assure you of. The man is always eating and it's always clean food too.
