Siders with a clean WR attempt.

    Koklyaev. No hitching.

    705 x 9

Forget the fact hitching looks like ****, those guys know it's not worth the risk.

I think it's a cop out when some people say it's necessary to lift heavy weights. I can see why guys do it in strongman with money and a podium finish on the line, but only as a last resort. I'm not taking anything away from Nee either because the guy is a freak whether he lifts with good form or not. I just can't understand why anyone would want to make it part of their lifting style.
Slightly off topic: How much higher is that tire dead at the arnold than a standard bar?

While Europe certainly has a large margin presently, North America has made great strides in recent years and will continue to do so. Nee is only one of the many young, talented strongmen we have.

I'm not sure exactly but the main difference seems to be the amount of whip in the bar because of its length (around 14ft).

If you watch the Savickas video you'll see all the tires leave the floor when the bar is around knee height, making it more like a rack pull. The bars used in the WPO where Bolton and Benni compete are also designed to whip but not to that degree.

So the key to success on that lift would be learning to work with the extreme whip. Savickas and Siders have obviously got it figured out (both pulling over 1000) whereas Benedikt Magnusson who's pulled more than all of them in PL (970) hasn't yet lifted more than 955.

Umm yeah, this is Strongman. Just get it up any way you can. You get no extra points for being pretty.

Thanks. Yeah where Ort competes I think the apollons axle(sp?) has basically no whip at all. I saw beny only do 5 reps with 700somethin' because of how big and stout the bar was.

It's a night and day difference pulling with a DL bar and a bar that has little to no flex(Axle or thick bar). That said, Travis and the rest of the IFSA guys are some bad mofos (especially Travis 'cause he's from Texas )
