To start off I would like to explain what detoxification is as I?m sure there are some out there that do not understand what this is. Simply put, a detox routine is an all-natural method of "cleaning out your pipes" by providing your body with the time and conditions it can use to rebuild and heal. There are many different detox routines in the world of natural health: water fasting, juice fasting, minimal eating, herbal detox, detox baths, colon cleansing, caloric restriction, and many others.
What is the Best Detox plan?
After doing some research I have to truly believe that Dr. Hulls Detox program has to be the best program I have come across. The plan is thoroughly explained and goes through how a detox program can benefit you. The plan can be found at http://www.detoxprogram.net/.
What should I expect after following a detox plan?
After following a detox plan you can expect to overall feel much healthier. A detox program can remove radiation, heavy metals such mercury and lead, parasites, and muscle pain. A well followed program can do much more than this though, it can increase your energy and stamina, give you healthier hair, skin and nails, and produce a healthier and stronger immune system.
What are the best products, items, foods, etc to use for detoxing?
There are many vitamins and supplements that are essential to maximize detox plan, there are also many foods and juices that are just as important. Such vitamins and supplements include; B-Complex, Black Walnut Tincture, Coconut Oil, Red Clover, Rhubarb and Ginger roots, and many others. Some of the foods include; Juniper Berries, Garlic, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Brown or Basmati rice, and all types of fresh fruits and beans.
Is it important to detox regularly? Why or why not?
It is important to detox in a cycle with a clean diet and a healthy lifestyle. Although I would not recommend doing a plan right after another and so on, I would say it would be important every few months to go on a detox program to clean out your system and insure a clean and healthy lifestyle.
Could a bodybuilder benefit from detoxification?
Yes, I think it would be a great idea for a bodybuilder to detox at least once a year in the off season to clear out their systems and help to insure a healthy lifestyle and prevent illness. Because it is very hard to take in a sufficient amount of protein and vitamins that a bodybuilder needs, they have to go to supplements and replacement meals, shakes and bars to take in all of the nutrients they need to compete in the competitive world of bodybuilding. While many of these products are great, they are filled with many other things that we may not want in our body and a detox plan in the off season or even possibly a cut because a great detox program can be put together with a significant calorie decrease and still be the same great plan to clean out our systems.
BONUS QUESTION: Have you ever used a detox plan? If so, what were your feelings of it? If not, would you want to try one?
I have not but after researching this I am going to start my first detox program after football season because things will be getting very hectic and I do not know if I can successfully do this while lifting, working, and having 6 hour football practices.

Topic Of The Week
WEEK ONE HUNDRED-TWENTY-ONE:: What is the Best Detox plan
In today's health-conscious world the human body is being recognized as a working machine that needs to well maintained to avoid certain breakdown. Once in a while we all develop sludge around the engine and need to get it washed out - welcome to detox.
No longer reserved for people recruited from A.A. meetings, the term detoxing takes on new meaning. After plaguing the human body with stress from weight training, running, poor eating, or unavoidable poisonous toxins enter and create havoc and chaos within your body. Symptoms include slow recovery times, constant tiredness, and nausea. How do we fix the problem? Once again the word diet comes to mind...
What is the best detox plan?
The best detox plan is obviously one that works... well that's easily said but what makes a detox plan work? Substances in the body called free radicals are the result of all the trauma and stresses that our bodies suffer 24/7. These free radicals cause those symptoms of slow recovery times, tiredness, and nausea. What can we do to solve the problem? "Eat your fruits and vegetables or no dessert!" - Ever heard that one before? If you haven't than you better listen up even more. Fruits and vegetables contain anti-oxidants, vitamins, and minerals that flush out the harmful free radicals. It's not quite that simple though...
Eating fruits and veggies is good for you but you need more than just an apple a day. Drop the bag of Fritos, Cheetos, or whatever 'eeto' that's still out there and you might want to take notes one the following. Alongside of getting plenty of citrus and greens, drinking more water or green tea, avoid refined sugars, smoking (anything), drinking alcohol, and eating raw foods (not sushi, think raw, unsalted, non-roasted almonds, peanuts, cashews etc) that haven't been exposed to chemical preservatives. Another three words to remember are: Essential Fatty Acids - be sure to get your omega's and/or have servings of fish. Combined with eating more sensibly compared to what your diet looks like now, these suggestions will help detox your body.
What should I expect after following a detox plan?
If all goes well, you should see a difference in your skin, hair, nails, mood, and you'll have a spring in your step (no detoxification isn't like the Viagra spring, I meant you'll have more energy).
What are the best products, items, foods, etc to use for detoxing?
As previously mentioned, raw foods, fruits and vegetables, water and green tea should be enough to see improvements. Suggested supplements include: vitamin and mineral supplements and EFA's. No need to complicate things.
Is it important to detox regularly? Why or why not?
From time to time the body just needs rest. If you're finding it harder to climb out of bed in the morning, feeling sick or fatigued or have a week off to relax, a detox could work its way in their nicely to alleviate the negative side effects of your busy life.
Could a bodybuilder benefit from detoxification?
Of course. Bodybuilding requires a detox to clean out your system and it will make you look better on stage.
BONUS QUESTION: Have you ever used a detox plan? If so, what were your feelings of it? If not, would you want to try one?
Not a set plan but I do include raw foods, fruits and vegetables in my diet. In the future I will plan on detoxing but right now I don't feel that it's necessary.

What are the best products, items, foods, etc to use for detoxing?
Detox 7
Echinacea
Magnesium
Green Tea
Olive
Lemon
Nettle plant
Is it important to detox regularly? Why or why not?
Yes, because the presence of toxins and contaminant agents reduce the immune system that makes you prone to negative deceases. Toxins generate free radicals in the human body that lower the immune system. Free radicals are molecules species produced by the human body that attack and cause damage to membranes of the cells. Contaminant agents, toxins, pesticides, contaminated food, smoking cigarettes and stress contribute to an excessive load of free radicals. To neutralize free radicals we need powerful antioxidants in adequate quantities supplemented daily.
Could a bodybuilder benefit from detoxification?
Yes, because the consumption of certain supplements can make you prone to some skin allergies or stomaches.
BONUS QUESTION: Have you ever used a detox plan? If so, what were your feelings of it? If not, would you want to try one?
Yes, I used a mix of Nettle plant, Olives and lemon that helped against digestive problems and water retention.

WEEK ONE HUNDRED-TWENTY ONE :: What Is The Best Detox Plan?
What Is Detoxification?
Most physicians see a problem and prescribe a pill. In this case, however, the symptom may not indicate the root cause. For example, if a person has drainage from the nose, is the solution a capsule to dry the passageway? That may be a temporary solution, but the drainage may be caused by an accumulation of toxins- creating a need for the individual to detoxify. If prescribed, medicine may actually add to the toxic burden.
Detoxification is simply reducing or removing our toxin intake and improving the six main elimination systems of our body:
1. Our kidneys -which filter the blood and excrete waste products.
2. Our colon-the sewage system of our body.
3. Our lungs-which have the greatest exposure to the environment.
4. Our liver-which transforms chemicals and toxins in order to remove them from the body.
5. Our skin.
6. Our lymphatics.
What is the best detox plan?
When there is an excess of any toxin intake or an excess of toxin production-or if you are not eliminating toxins-you are eventually going to have a problem with toxicity, which usually leads to disease. The symptoms will start occurring.
Don't despair. If your body has good elimination functions you can handle most toxins. You don't need to move to another location or check into a hospital. You can "detox" right where you are. Here are the essentials:
1. Water. It's the main transport media of the body that delivers nutrients to all the cells. It is also essential to digestion-helping us absorb, assimilate and eliminate. Your body can exist for about five weeks without food, but the average person can only live about five days without water. Here are some amazing facts about water:
* Your body is about 60 percent water.
* Your muscles are about 75 percent water.
* Your brain is about 75 percent water.
* Your blood is approximately 82 percent water.
* Your bones are approximately 25 percent water.
Few people realize that the average-sized human requires about three quarts of water a day. (To determine your water needs, take your body weight in pounds and divide it by 2. This will equal the amount of water in ounces that you need per day. For example, a 200-pound man needs 100 ounces of water a day: 200 divided by 2 equals 100 ounces.)
2. Bowel regularity. Adhere to a high-fiber diet-not one that is filled with fats, processed white sugar, white flour and full of meats. Remember, a bowel movement occurs about eighteen to twenty-four hours after a meal. Your regularity is timed to the meals you had one or two days earlier. More than one bowel movement a day is ideal; however, one bowel movement a day is satisfactory. But one bowel movement every three days or once a a week spells toxicity overload.
What are the best products, items, foods, etc to use for detoxing?
I know that changing your diet is difficult, yet it is essential. Start by eating a high-fiber cereal, high-fiber vegetables such as beans, peas, lentils and whole grains. Include pears and apples.
I recommend a fiber supplement you can find at any drug store, health food store, Wal-Mart or K-Mart. Fiber supplements are quite inexpensive. You can even take a teaspoon of psyllium with 8 ounces of water when you get our of bed every morning. It's great for regularity. Repeat the process at night. Start slowly, because fiber may produce excessive gas and bloating.
Daily exercise is also important to regularity. I recommend Divine Health Buffered Vitamin C, one capsule two to three times a day. It is best not to take vitamin C with fiber, since the fiber may bind the mineral ascorbates. Because buffered vitamin C contains magnesium, it will help to regulate your bowels. To avoid possible diarrhea, start with one tablet a day.
Magnesium is a wonderful mineral that helps to regulate to colon and bowels. If you have ongoing problems with constipation (going over two or three days), I recommend a magnesium supplement such as magnesium citrate. Magnesium citrate, taken in a dose of 400 milligrams, one to two capsules, three times a day will usually regulate the bowel movement. Magnesium citrate may also be taken as a liquid.
Herbs And Nutrients
To detoxify your body, I recommend several herbs and nutrients that are high in chlorophyll, including wheatgrass, barley grass, alfafa, spirulina, chlorella, and blue-green algae. These high chlorophyll foods are excellent colon cleansers and detoxifiers.
Another great herb is Garlic. Garlic is a wonderful, natural antibiotic. It also has antiviral, antifungal, antiyeast and antiparasitic properties. Other great herbs include barberry, burdock, cayenne pepper, dandelion root, echinacea, fenugreek, red clover, goldeseal, milk thistle and mullein leaf. You can also find a special colon and body detox program that contains these detoxifying herbs at health food stores.
Flaxseed Oil
One of the most beneficial-and overlooked-toxin fighters is flaxseed oil. As bad as hydrogenated fats (margarine) are for your body, flaxseed oil is good for you. It helps the body over-come the effects of pesticides and industrial toxins and is one of the most important detoxing tolls available. I believe everyone should take 1 tablespoon of flaxseed oil once or twice a day-I certainly do. It's very rich in omega-3 fatty acids and strengthens your cell membranes. It also may help to percent heart disease, arthritis and even cancer. Flaxseed oil is a type of "fat exchange" program. You are actually exchanging the bad fats for good fats. That is why it's so critically important. If you don't like the taste, try cinnamon flaxseed oil.
Is it important to detox regularly? Why or why not?
Well, that depends. As always, it's best to listen to your body to let you know when you should need one. If your habits happen to be excessively unhealthy, then you may need one more often, although, of course, detoxification alone will not improve your health as much or simply changing your diet and lifestyle will. If you try to maintain your health as much as possible with good diet, exercise, and supplementation, then you may need one relatively seldom.
To figure out how often you should have one, do a detox one month and then skip the next month to see how you feel. If your health remains good and you feel as well as you did after the detox, then you probably don't need one every month. In fact, you may need to go as seldom as every six months to a year if your health habits are good otherwise. However, if you find that you feel exceptionally well after a detox and skipping one makes you feel worse, then you may need one at more frequent intervals, such as every month to every three months. It simply depends on what your body tells you is the best interval for you to have.
Could a bodybuilder benefit from detoxification?
Absolutely, many fitness enthusiasts do not even realize they are eliminating toxins as they do their routine exercises. How does this work? Through perspiration!
Perspiration
The body excretes toxins through the skin via perspiration. It's important to sweat. Centuries ago the Finnish people began using saunas in the winter to help them detoxify. Because it was so Finland, they couldn't get out and exercise , so they headed for a sauna. Perhaps they didn't know it, but they were excreting toxins from their bodies.
You may want to try this Finnish custom of using a sauna. They temperature of the sauna should be between 130 to 160 degrees, and you should stay in it for at least fifteen minutes. Take with you a thermos of water so you won't get dehydrated. Your goal is not to lose weight, but to shed toxins. An infrared sauna is even more effect in removing toxins, and the temperature is kept lower, usually only 100-150 degrees, which is more comfortable.
Aerobic exercise is highly beneficial, but be sure to perspire. When you are finished exercising or taking a sauna, don't allow the poisons to go back into your system. Take a shower and wash them off. These treatments combined with a customized diet and nutritional program have vastly improved, restored and rejuvenated many bodybuilders at the cellular level, allowing them to feel better and lead a healthier lifestyle!
What should I expect after following a detox plan?
In general, people often report improved energy, clearer skin, regular bowel movements, improved digestion, and increased concentration and clarity. All facilitating in a healthy lifestyle that will help you meet your fitness goals!

BONUS QUESTION: Have you ever used a detox plan? If so, what were your feelings of it? If not, would you want to try one?
Yes, and I enjoyed it! My most recent detoxification was a juice fast for three days. I am a great believer in fasting for the cleansing of body. Fasting will help prevent colds, flus, allergies, high blood pressure, asthma, headaches, psoriasis, heart disease, arthritis, back pain and fatigue. Being the organization freak that I am, I still have my juice fast drinks saved!
I like variety, hence there are three choices for each meal of the day:
Breakfast drink 1:
4 carrots
A handfule of parsley
2 apples
Breakfast drink 2:
1 pink grapefruit, peeled
1/2 small lemon lime, peeled
1 apple
Breakfast drink 3:
