On Sunday while squatting i felt something weird in my left calf, and have had slight pain all week, most noticeable while wearing shoes and walking. Barefoot I am fine. Stretching doesn't seem to help at all. The pain is occurring a the thickest part of my calf, on my right calf, feels like its inside of the gastrocnemius possibly...
I can feel the pain most noticeably when i point my toe as well.
Should I be overly concerned? I squat every workout, and set a new peak lift today without a problem, but honestly I do not see how I managed to do something that would cause a pain there from squatting...

i am wondering about raising the heel perhaps, right now i cannot afford another pair of shoes and am wearing nike running shoes that are not ideal for support, and I have just moved past my own body weight for atg reps.
and yeah the pain when i point my toe is around the same position as if i had risen off the heel.
thanks for pointing it out.

Sqauting, deadlifting and leg pressing should all be done with the feet as flat on the ground as possible. Squating in running shoes is putting your feet in a bad postion. If you can't afford a pair or wrestling shoes then I would just squat in my socks which is the way most of the high school teams who travel to our gym do it.
