I posted this over at the supps forum but got mixed information, so I figure it wouldn't hurt to try over here
http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hreadid=239853After reading a few contest prep articles on the main site, I've decided to creatine load the last few days before my show.
I realize that loading creatine monohydrate should be @ ~20g ed. If using a product like Swole v2, how much would be a proper loading dose? Or should I stick with monohydrate?

Creatine loading for a contest
$157 billion creates 650,000 jobs = $240,000 cost to create or save 1 job

Im doing my first comp in may, and i wonder about creatine too. Because we need to remove some water for the contest, and some people say we need to load creatine, but creatine makes water go into muscle cells for cooling etc...
so im confuse.

anyway, any insight on if it's okay to load pre-contest with a product such as swole v2? and if so, how to go about it?$157 billion creates 650,000 jobs = $240,000 cost to create or save 1 job

Hey, j_neatherlin, I'm curious about this also. PM BigCat and ask him. I remember him saying he's a proponent of loading creatine the week of the contest, but PM him anyway to make sure his stance is the same on this. Later.
And if you do get big cat's word, post it up for the rest!"Like those in the valley behind us, most people stand in sight of the spiritual mountains all their lives and never enter them, being content to listen to others who have been there and thus avoid the hardships."

I understand that it's not really worth the risk if not having tried before the show, but I'm just not sure. is it b/c of the possibility of spill over? is there a possibility of spill over?
granted I'm not as keen as some of yall on here (such as yourself and Layne) but my understanding of how creatine works...I just have some difficulty seeing what the problem could be.
I've heard of people getting bloated from creatine...but I usually just dismiss that as being either a ****ty product (cell tech), more due to diet, or people not knowing wtf they're talking about.
granted that is just my assumption...doesn't make me right.$157 billion creates 650,000 jobs = $240,000 cost to create or save 1 job

I have thought about this a lot too...I guess it all boils down to whether or not the extracellular tissues will try to/can pull intracellular water out of the cells. Thats the real question and your guess is as good as mine. I think I am going to cycle off the creatine 2 weeks out and just let the water levels normalize a bit...but who knows.
67 days en counting

It all depends on how you look with creatine. I actually am excited when i get off creatine because i can always see new lines and muscle striations. I also look a lot leaner and harder. I will NOT be creatine loading for my competition. I got off creatine at a little less than 4 weeks out.

good point there there as well...individual differences. I think I look good on creatine, but I think I will look just a little bit more tight when I am off it...

If you are going to load creatine for a show, be sure to use effervescent creatine. Its 3 times more water soluble and causes virtually no extracellular water retention. The monohydrate forms of creatine cause significant sub-Q water build up.

It would also depend on whether the brand of creatine in question used a carb transporter, wouldn't it?
I'm assuming that these products would hinder the carb depletion process... so obviously you wouldn't use it then - but perhaps plain creatine at this point would be OK? Then would you follow it up with the transporter creatine just before the competition, during the carb load?
