    My ghetto gym has only 1 complete set of 2,5kg and 1,25kg plates, so whenever you'd want to progress your lifts, it becomes a death struggle with the other people who want to use and a game of hide and seek because they're constantly hidden. Places where I've now found those little plates: in the corner, in the box holding all the cable attachments, in the cage holding the dumbbells, on a ring of the adjustable bench as a sort of 45+ pin, on the pins of the cable machines, on top of the squat rack, under a pile of 20 and 25kg plates, under the wrist roller machine to stabilize it I guess, UNDER a machine

    these things really get no love

    I use the gym of my apartment complex, which is really great, but very much self-policing. This one girl brings her trainer into our gym, and he has her do circuit-style training. One of the exercises is deadlift. Mind you, we only have one cage and one barbell. So I end up having to sit and wait for over 30 min for this girl to do all of 3 or 4 sets of deadlift as part of a circuit. I told the trainer that our one barbell shouldn't be used as part of an extended circuit.

    Also, I can't stand when people fail to re-rack the weights. Like I said, our gym is self-policing, and we all have to take care to keep it orderly. Amazes me that some folks can't put back a single plate after they are done with the cage.

    I agree with this. If a dude is lifting 100 lb DB's, by all means toss 'em. I don't want to see someone tear a rotator cuff or something. Of course, there is a big difference between tossing them, and emphatically throwing them. The former is absolutely acceptable, whereas the latter isn't reallly necessary. As for noise and yelling, I've never minded so long as it isn't on every single rep and persistent to the point where it becomes a joke. But if a dude is pushing insanely hard for that last rep, a bit of grunting or a little yell is of course acceptable. I myself was told by some girl in my gym to keep it down while doing heavy rack pulls (she said the clanging of metal on metal was too loud). I put some mats over the pins to dull some of the noise, but was kind of pissed that someone interrupted me for that crap.

    Agreed. There's this sloot that works at the gym I go to (unfortunately I had to go during her shift). I went with my sister and she didn't have time for cardio before legs so I decided we'd do 4 exercises, 8 sets of 8, max 30sec rest

    Afterwords as I'm walking out she goes "Backflipbrahsrs you're so loud, take it down a notch."

    I laughed cause I thought it was a joke but then she said "I'm serious, this is your first warning."

    Still have no idea if she was joking or not but gonna be even louder next time on lunges (which I'm guessing is the exercise she heard me on).

    This. I usually think there's no way anyone's going lower than a plate on that machine so I leave them on as a curtesy just in case.

    Today I was doing side laterals and a girl walked right into my range of movement because the gym was crowded and she wasn't paying attention - if I didn't abort I would've busted her in the jaw because she was short (and 20 years ago I wouldn't have).

What a bunch of inconsiderate monkeys, I remember one of the gym instructors politely told this jackass to put down the weights with cautious, and he got offended and told her that he did not need to waste his effort since he has completed his set. What an ass!

    2. Not putting weights back to its respective racks!!!!!! This really pisses me off a lot. Whenever I step into the free weight section, I see dumbells lyinig around on the floor and the racks are empty. This is really selfish of them. They want to save their strengths for subsequent sets; hence, choose to neglect the weights they have used and leave them there so the guys around him will trip and fall horribly!!!!! I also hate hyprocrites who claim that they hate people who don't put their weights back and even claim they are responsible members who put weights back after using them. A few days ago, I saw the same MOFOs who left the weights on the squating rack and never came back!!!! Ahhhhhhh I'm so mad while writing this now.

    3. Screamers. I just can't avoid/ignore them. Groaning is acceptable but screaming your lungs out??? I think if they really want to show their masculinity by shouting out loud? Please do that at a karaoke joint.

    4. Gym instructors who only talk to the pretty ones. I notice this and it personally disgusts me the most!!!! I always see guy instructors chatting up with chicks on the treadmill, while ignoring a poor lady who obviously needed some guidance from "qualified" gym instructors. Some of them even abuse their authority during personal training sessions such as putting their palm on the lady's buttocks "assisting" her in her stretch. Seriously, I was in the States for 5 years and I know they can be sued for sexual harrassment. But then again! The women in my country are so dumb and naive they seem to like the attention they are getting from the instructors

    5. TAKING 10 MINUTES REST PERIOD. Sorry for the caps but I'm actually getting quite pissed as I am writing this. :P I am not condemning people who like to socialize at a gym. When you rack up weights on the smith machine and decide to have a quick drink at the cooler I am fine with that. But doing a quick warm up set of 10-12 and then chatting up with some so called buddies for like 10 minutes enrages me!!!!!!! I don't mind if they do that during non-peak hours but doing that during peak hours deserve to soak themselves in acid!

    There are still so much more and I should stop here. Must go back to work before my manager finds out I have been doing nothing but writing hate mails.

    I totally agree, Especially the new young instructors who have all the answers, I got inturupted between sets with a P.T telling me with out asking if I would like some advice that I was doing my Military press wrong and should use my legs to push up. Firstly he should have asked if I wanted his advice not force it up on me. Second Know your exercises Military press not push press,. He also made a comment to a freind when I was doing a reverse grip bench press saying I was doing it wrong and Third maybe he should be paying more attention to his client that is paying for his time. My brother is a P.T and hates the reputation that they get because of people like this.

    If you are going to vent, this is the place to do it. Oh gym etiquette I swear. Try having the trainers take ALL the weights for THEIR clients and leaving none left for the gym members. HAPPENS ALL THE TIME.

    Screaming is very annoying to me! There is a guy at my gym that does it, and I find myself just wanting to scream back to cut the crap off! I don't tolerate that very well.

    I've worked at a gym with most of these issues, and yeah its pretty annoying...
    Throwing weights yep seen that. Was off duty just working out, and a guy was doing bicep curls with 12kg (not at all heavy) and to demonstrate the fact at the end of each.set he would launch them from a standing position 5ft forward. Well 100k and one less member, the holes in the floor were reinforced and repaired.
    Screamers - the guys that scream from the outset of their sets more comical to begin with, but it gets old quickly.
    People slamming the weight stacks on fixed resistance machines - rotary torso especially. No matter how often you explain or demonstrate that they'll get better results slower and controlled, 5 mins later the same thing occurs!
