You don't even know, their was a pair of guys that hogs the squat rack the entire time i was in the gym on legs day. They kept the weight on, as if claiming its theirs, and would go back and forth between the dumbbells and squat rack for a grand total of about 50 sets. And the wort thing is, they didn't do one set on squats or dealifts, they did standing military which they could do anywhere else.

Not that it hasn't been said.. but people who cannot figure out how to place dumbbells back in the correct order. I was doing incline DB press with 100's, some DB comes up in the middle of my set (I'm literally right in front of the rack) and places 50's in their spot. It's really too bad I didn't see who the hell it was.

We have an old guy who, as of recent, started complaining that we needed to turn off the stereo while he is there. He says its too loud and distracting for his workout. He wears jeans and a polo everyday he is there. His routine is sitting on the machines, one by one doing one set of 10 with no weight VERRRRRRRY SLOOOOWWWWWLLLYY.
The gym owner politely scoffed at him for his request for no stereo, now the old guy wears ear plugs while he lifts.
Oh! and I've watched him come in to the gym wearing athletic shoes and change into loafers after he arrives. He changes back to the athletic footwear when he leaves.

I've never had any luck with personal trainers. I hired one guy to help me get in shape. I did get some results, but also learned a number of bad things from him. Then, one day... he vanished. His boss said he had personal problems and he needed time off... ok... no response, no warning, nothing. Then he e-mails me out of the blue and wants to start working out together again... ok... I should have said no at the time, but it was a small gym and few personal trainers, so I said yes (not a good idea). He gave me a few workout sessions to say "sorry". I was like Ok. The guy became even more reckless and just... weird... I would talk to him about my goals and he was just zone out... what??? I'm paying you to help me dumbass. I had a check for him ready once and said: Hey, I want to give it to you to settle our debts. Him: Yeah, after the work out. Me: Ok. Then he vanishes after the workout. I wasn't stupid to leave a personal check at a gym locker, so I took it with me. This happened one other time. By now, after trying to pay him for weeks and him being flaky, I owed him quite a bit of money. I come in one day and the dude explodes, yelling at me that I'm not paying him. I offered to drive back that minute and get him the money, he proceeded to yell at me. Oh hell no. He did not just embarrass me. I wrote a check, left it at the front desk. Never contacted him again.
The second time I hired a trainer was because I figured I got a bad deal before. This guy I hired I told him I wanted to bulk up and do learn proper form for benching, squatting and deadlifting. The dude had me do little exercises of jumping and such. I'm like, what the ****? I had to remind him over and over to get him to do the same thing.
[/rant]
I joined here to get what I want. Others... are unreliable at best in helping me get there.

Had some ******* come into the gym the same time as me on Sunday. Probably 6'1 150 lbs. Decided he was gonna do circuit training and started doing 5 reps on all machines, and placed his water bottle on the seat to the Preacher Curl station before he went over to the Smith Machine, as his little way of saying "reserved". I planned on warming up with Preacher Curls so I took his water bottle and set it over by the weight tree. He came looking for his water bottle, found it and thought about it for a minute, then returned to his horrible workout without approaching me to ask why I did it.

theres 2 FID benches in my gym, so people know to be efficient and move on.
there is this absolute ******* at gym, the ******* of all *******s, that grabs 2 sets of dumbbells, 20kg and 25kg, sits on his mobile phone on the bench, and proceeds to do one set of flies and one set of presses every 5/10 mins. the rest of the time hes on his phone, if he is not texting he walks around the gym for five minutes. tonight he was on the bench for 70 minutes. that is not a joke.
my gym buddy and i were furious, but we did get some lols as we were leaving. just as we were going out the door he moved from the bench after 350 sets of flies and presses and went to do cable crossovers, you know, cos obviously he hadnt done enough.

One particular thing I find to be bad etiquette is when groups of people pretend they’re the only ones at the gym or have a sense of entitlement to the equipment.
I went to my university gym one morning on a chest day and hopped on a treadmill for a few minutes to get warmed up. The gym was pretty much empty; there were a few people in the cardio area and one or two guys in the free weight area so I was pretty confident I wasn’t going to have to compete for equipment. After less than a minute on the treadmill I notice this group of guys come in followed by some middle aged guy with a clip board. I thought ‘wtf? Who are these people? I’ve never seen them before…’ I finished up my warm up a few minutes later without giving it much thought and made it over to the free weight area on the other side of the gym. I could not believe what I saw. I literally stood there for trying to comprehend what was going on… They had re-arranged the entire area, and they were using almost every piece of equipment. There were six of them plus what looked like their coach and they were using three of the three power racks, three of the four bench presses, one of the two benches that incline, one dumbbell for each of the weights from 40 to 80 lbs (so one of each of 40,45,50,55,60,65,70,75,80, leaving no available pairs of dumbbells for anyone else in the 40-80 weight range), and to top it all off… the coach was using two of the five flat benches available, one to sit on, and the other to write on his clip board (You have a F*cking clipboard!!! Why do you need a bench @sshole!!!). They had completely re-arranged the area and built this bench press barrier/wall around the power racks to deter people from going near them. Once again I thought ‘who the f*ck do these people think they are? All this equipment for six people and two benches so their coach can have a desk?’ Luckily my chest workout doesn’t use any set of dumbbells under the 85’s so I was ok and I was able to find the equipment and benches I needed only because these jack-@ss idoits did such a good job of intimidating the four or five other (clearly new to the gym) guys that they were just wandering around the free weight area probably too intimidated to use anything.
After about forty to forty-five minutes of equipment hogging, obnoxious yelling, and weight slamming constantly reinforced and encouraged by their coach this group of douches were done. Their coach gave them a ‘good job today guys…’ speech and then told them to put the equipment back where it was found and left. These guys half assed putting everything back they re-racked weights in the wrong spot, put the bench presses back all f*cked up, didn’t unload the Olympic bars, or clean up all the chalk they spilled and just left the gym looking like $h!t. I felt bad for the new guys who had decided to come in the morning probably because (like me) they are trying to avoid @ssholes like this who usually go in the evening only to be bullied and intimidated off equipment anyway. After I finished my workout and was leaving the locker room, what really made me mad was that I noticed the probably 5’4”, 110 lb, girl, who was the gym attendant that morning was re-racking, rearranging, unloading plates, and cleaning up the mess that these jerks left behind.

Unfortunately, in our college's fitness complex, athletes and clients get priority over other members. It can be very frustrating trying to find equipment to use, but anymore when I am already at a power pod doing my thing, whether squats, DL or landmine (ha, my fav exercises with that wonderful equipment!), I stay and give the douches a look that could maim, LOL. The nice thing about our pods is if someone is using the rack to squat and I need the landmine attachment, I can work in without being in the way. But really, I am getting rather irritated at some of the douches that come in. I get some trainers (who don't like me because I am old enough to be their mother) who stare me down during a workout....I say, "keep watching....you might learn something!"

Haha I'm guilty of this a few years ago. Was raining outside and wore running shoes to gym. Squeakiness ensued. Gave zero ****s and did my 30 mins. Now I switch shoes @ the gym.
Sounds like a smaller Uni. Even one smaller college I attended for a little while had an entire separate gym complex just for the athletes. That would be brutal for anyone that is starting out to even go otherwise because of that intimidation. Damn...

taking weights off my rack during my set while I'm repping, or just taking weights from station, I may not use them all, but I' am in that area of the station using the equipment, it only takes but a quickie to ask "Hey bro could I borrow these or take these, or are you going to use these." I always ask before I take from other people.
The other one that really pisses me off, is those people who are doing the Iron man Challenge in the gym taking up 4-5 work out stations jumping from one spot to another to another. WTF is that about. But damn don't get caught up trying to use the machine when they walk off to use another one lol."Im Already There!!!"
