I'm doing Rippetoe's just on Push/Pull days. I play basketball 2 or 3 times a week, and I play pretty hard, I'm doing alot of maximal jumps throughout my playing time. Kelly Baggett's vertical jump bible said not to do plyos if you're getting them through your sport. I think on the 3 weeks I've been doing Rippetoe my vert has already slightly increased, but I'm looking to add about 8 more inches over a period of time, will doing Low Rep High Weight training like Rippetoe and 5x5 help me get this goal?
Programs like that are great for strength and explosiveness. Playing 3 times a week might be pretty taxing though. I have a hard time playing once a week.
