Talking Ricotta Cheese VS Cottage Cheese...

    Hi everyone....just a quick question...
Does anyone know if ricotta cheese acts the same as cottage cheese in the way that cottage cheese is a slow-release protein. A PT client of mine was wondering if she could replace her bedtime cottage cheese meal with a low fat ricotta instead and still get the same slow burning effects?? I have no idea so i thought i would bring the question to you guys!! Thanks for the imput!
steaming oats + vanilla protein mixed = my substitute for eating cake batter from the bowl!!!

The miracle is right around the corner...so never give up!

You believe correct - ricotta is made (or SHOULD be made) from the whey fraction of milk.

You might want to double check the sodium content as well, as some can be quite high.

Being Italian, this thread got my attention.
I look up Ricotta at the US site

    http://www.ars.usda.gov/Services/docs.htm?docid=7783

1 cup Ricotta has 256 mg sodium. Is that a lot?
At my house, we listen to both kinds of music: Led and Zeppelin!

    Does it matter??

Really - unless you have a dislike for the taste or a medical reason to limit sodium (eg: heart or kidney disease) then a little sodium from cheese is not going to kill you.
