max. The thing that sucks is that the chain i got with the belt is a little too short. Luckily at my gym there are "handle holes" so i had to hook it up there

Nice work. I'm using about the same weight as you too, 3 45s. The whole gym looks at me when I do dips.

I love dips though, a very fun exercise, but only with weight added.

Since you use a lot of weight you can probably relate, doing dips with no weight is almost toooo light, feel easy as a pushup. lol

*shakes head* I have no idea how you're doing that. My body feels like it's going to tear apart going at 110pders (i weigh 225 btw). infact, i injured my sternum at 90pds a few weeks ago when i was slowly progressing up after being sick.

    i just can't see anymore than 110...

I remember being in highschool weighing 160 and dipping with 90lbs on the chain for 6 reps. Felt like I was going to get ripped in half. After taking the weight off, it felt as if I could thrust myself to the ceiling with one rep.

320lbs, that's awesome. Especially for parallel dips.

I'm currently doing bench dips (between my bench and a chair) with 90lbs for 4 sets of 8 (I only weigh 150lbs though) and that is hard enough. I don't have a parallel dip setup at home so I have no idea what I'd be able to do for them. One thing is for sure though, I couldn't even begin to imagine what 320 would feel like. That's huge.

    My heaviest is 170lbs. + 205 b.w. = 375 lbs.
I do weighted chins too. Anyone else?
I like to superset the 2 exercises as well.

Nice one, Jeff. I'm really itching to get my power rack and add parallel dips and chins to my routine.

Quick update. Last workout I added 134lbs to my dips for 4x8. I'm going to see what I can do for 3 sets of 3 tomorrow. Dean from girlstrong.com is coming to do a photoshoot too so I should have some decent pics of my workout.

I just cannae do it cap'n! I can't do more than a few dips with just bodyweight. The pain in my chest is just unbearable. My chest sucks ass because of this. Oh well.
mate, thats alright, it happened to me during summer too, bulked up completely wrong, got to a fatass stage, cutted (still cutting), but my dips have increased tremendously. I say, if you cant perform 10 bodyweight dips, you got too fat (as a general rule IMO).
    good luck with the cutting

Nah you misunderstand me. I have never been able to do many dips. My recent bulk has been very successful. Dips aren't a part of my routine because of the pain i get with them. During this bulk I haven't got that much stronger because I was focussing on sarcoplasmic hypertrophy. Now I can focus on strength. Oh and no way am I cutting at the moment. I don't bulk then cut them bulk then cut again. 1 long bulk is all I want. Let the muscle burn off calories. Then if I need to cut it will be much easier to do. Unless i do become a fatass. Currently about 12-16% bf so I'm not worried about that yet.

Have you tried doing dips in the tricep position, Mad Dog?

I did bench dips again today with 178lbs and still managed three sets (8,5,8 reps) and finished with two sets of 12 at 112lbs. I was aiming for 4 - 5 reps at this weight so I was pleasantly surprised. The increase in reps for the last heavy set was a result of a longer (2 minutes instead of 1 minute) break between sets.
Dean from girlstrong.com was here doing a photoshoot and we were adjusting the lighting for the last set. He also got some video footage too.
This is the first time I've ever done a professional photo shoot and it was a real buzz. I'll post some pics as soon as I have them.

Yes, still hurts but less so. I try to do the occasional assisted dip trying to keep the reps low. At the moment i have extremely low strength for my size which means bodyweight exercises are a no-no. 52 pushups are my absolute maximum I think, 4 dips, 8 chins I think. Working on that though. GREAT lifts from you though. I'm guessing you're not a teen...?
