Failed my bench today. Where to go from here

42m, thyroid issues and 2 crunchy shoulders. I’ve been lifting off and on for years. I’ve been doing similiar to the fierce 5, 4 day a week upper/lower routine for the past 8 weeks.

My main lifts (bench, squat and trap bar deadlift have been progressing nicely). Today for my main upper my flat bench I was supposed to do 200lbs 3x5. I failed the last set , I couldn’t get the 5th rep. I tried twice and no go, even with a good spotter.

Il try again next week, but what happens if I stall again? Lower the weights and work back up? Find a new routine? Take a deload/rest week? I like the upper/lower set up and I’ve been happy to stay consistent in the gym the last 2 months but this kinda bummed me out. Feels like il never get 225 for reps. Any advice would be great
    RIP Kobe :(

Sounds like you have already answered your own question in 3 different ways bro, would only add looking at/sharpening up your diet, micro plates, what your recovery looks like, energy levels before you workout and to only change one variable i.e. do one of those things at a time and reassess from there. Keep up the grind.

Eat an extra PB sandwich and some chocolate milk each day. You’ll crush it.
