If you need help with depression, then go seek help. That being said, I would caution to ask your doctor to make SSRI's an absolute last resort option if nothing else gets it under control.
The problem with weed is that it's awesome for using at home. Stupid if you want to go out in public at all, because I promise you people will be able to tell you're high and sloppy unless it's a minimal amount.

OP I don't believe in depression as western psychiatry and medicine tends to define it, as some neurchemical imbalance that is treated with medication. I don't think mere neurochemistry is a big part of the equation, and medication isn't going to fix the issue.
I think depression is your subconscious screaming at you that something isn't right and it needs to change. It's lifestyle. 99% of depression is just having a sucky life that no one would want to live. No sense of purpose, incel, bad look, low social status, not enough human interaction, not enough reward for perceived hard work, no life structure, not earning enough money, sleeping too late, sleeping in too late, messed up sleep cycle, monotonous routine, too much screen time, not enough nature, not enough adventure etc.
People are depressed because their life sucks. The key isn't to take meds. It's to unsuck your life.Back off, Warchild.
Seriously.

I absolutely hate the way THC makes me feel. I realize that most people seem to enjoy it, but it's been horrible every time I have tried it.
'Peace of Mind' has not been my experience. Never done anti-depressants so can't comment on those either.________

I like you as a poster but this is absolutely incorrect lmao bro
You're talking about the "spotlight effect" where you get so high you think everyone is watching you like in the Truman show..
Not even close that's just the weed making you mildly schizophrenic
I go out on 300mg brownies and do anything, I was going on hinge dates brownied the fuk out and no one had a clue..Its about tolerance and individual response
Some people can do it..Others can't..And in extreme cases some people shouldn't because it will bring out their predisposition to schizophreniaJournal: https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=139898123&page=240

My personal experience with taking antidepressants is that you may get some short term depression/anxiety relief that can be useful to get through a rough depressive episode, but eventually they will stop working, your doctor will then start upping the dose which may bring additional temporary relief, but with increased dosages comes increased side-effects, then your doctor will start prescribing medications on top of the anti-depressants to help you deal with said side-effects.
Eventually you are on such an extensive cocktail of medications that you become numb to life and forget what it's like to be human. You then purge yourself of all medications which makes you feel better until the next depressive episode hits. Rinse and repeat the cycle.

This is pretty much it, but an SSRI can be helpful if used correctly. It's supposed to get you to a point where you can OVERCOME the hurdle to find enjoyment, its not to correct your depression in and of itself. It gets YOU to a point where YOU should be able to GO OUTSIDE, develop a life, get into nature, get away from anxiety induced situations, etc. You still have to put in the work.
