you can't expect amazing results in 1 year unless:
1. you are a genetic freak
2. you eat sleep and train many times per week
3. you have a coach
4. you eat really well
5. you train with heavy weights
so my opinion is that dude is not training intensely enough. There is an unspoken thing, we are iron brothers and sisters, we are to support each other and...It is our duty to support our brothers and sisters in the iron game!

You can mog roidcucks as a natty if you actually know how to train hard
Also 1 year into lifting I had 11” arms and couldn’t bench 95 lbs (srs). Stick with it for 10 years ph aggotEvery man should be able to crush offenders penis using his rock solid glutes if he is victim of anal assault attempt

First of all it takes 5 years of proper strength training as a 100% natty to actually get significantly bigger muscles
He probably did some bodybuilding non strength training BS split..Of course that's what happens
I made the same mistake
If you're natty you need to focus on purely adding a massive amount of weight to the bar on your big compound lifts, i.e:
Add 300 pounds to squat
Add 200 pounds to bench
Add 350 pounds to deadlift
If you eat enough of the right foods (which is all that is needed)...You automatically will be bigger, period.Journal: https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=139898123&page=240

if you want to look completely different within 1 year to benefit from the n00b gainz, you should have been more intense
GUARANTEED you didn't push yourself within safe limits of your actual strength. Too many people lift "heavy enough" but could easily go past 15 reps. Brah that's too light.
TRUE strength increase is when you burn out after about 8 to 12 reps (your choice, choose 1) and INCREASE the weight by 5lbs. Your reps will likely burn out around 4 to 6 reps, keep at it until you can complete your 3 (or 4) sets to 8 or 12 reps, then increase again with 5 more lbs on your next session. Keep a log (use an app like "Strong") to keep track and see your growth in strength. Increase your protein intake and watch for simple carbs
It takes time but that's the safest way to remain safe within your ACTUAL strength limits when you get there. Progressive overload 101 brahPureblood

Your normie friends and family will notice a difference in the way you look within a year. With that said, realistically to look significantly different it takes 5+ years of proper training to get there if you're actually natural.
The main metric is how much you're lifting (properly, controlled, with a deep stretch etc.) on the upper body compound movements. It's really that simple. Too many n00bs fall for the mind muscle connection bullchit and spend all their time using the same bish weight on 'optimal' exercises like cable press arounds and those pussy cable rows that people do while straddling an adjustable bench. The truth is, if you're natural and you want a muscle to get big, you need to get brutally strong at whatever compound movement it is the primary mover in e.g. bench for pecs.

Gaining muscle is a combination of genetics, nutrition, recovery, and lifting. I'd argue lifting is probably the least important out of the four. Its also the easiest thing to do.
Most people focus only on lifting and its basically a waste of their time.
Just based on that picture. Its unlikely that dude followed a decent routine, with good diet, and good sleep/recovery for that year.
