I've been using a doubled edges razor all my life and never have needed to use shaving cream. I learned early in my life that it dries the fck outta your skin after you shave.

All.you need to use is coconut oil or coconut cream, or butter. Just anything to make the blade slide over your skin. All of the things I listed will not dry or irritate your skin and will last you forever. They will also moisturize your skin while you shave.

Some shaving soaps provide hydration similar to oil. You don't want your face oily because razor won't be able to grip the hair well.
You need soapy, thick foamy lather that acts as a binding agent and buffer between hairs that can be shaved easily with proper sharpness and force.
