Huberman created entire persona on being a guy from a hard scrabble upbringing, lots of fighting, and a bad family who was institutionalized and then made a huge comeback to become a Stanford prof against all odds.

The reality is Andrew grew up in one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in America, was never institutionalized and is the son of a Stanford professor who paid for his schooling and helped him get a job at the university. His classmates say they don't remember him getting in a single fight. He is a literal nepo baby who had his entire life handed to him.

His lab does not exist and hasn't existed for a couple years now. Theoretically he is moving the lab, but there is no timeline for that. Despite this he continues to claim the proceeds from his podcast go to him doing research in his lab...which does not exist.

He was dating five different women, telling all of them he was monogamous with them. He gave one HPV and injected another with fertility drugs in the hope of inducing a geriatric pregnancy while sexing four other women.

And it goes on. Sad. He seemed like a good guy if you listened to him, but I guess we all have our skeletons

It was clear from day one he was personally "off" but yea the Huberman bros were fuking insufferable. He exaggerated the harms of alcohol a bit by cherry-picking different studies, but so many former alcoholics or people trying to get sober really sucked him off for his alcohol episode. That's the one that really launched his career. Demonizing something that a lot of people have a real problem with is a pretty good ticket to fame.

He actually gave some good basic advice in his first 5 or 6 episodes then got more and more quacks to come on and reached harder and harder for his "evidence-backed claims".

First video I watched of him he was explaining metformin and berberine. He said he took one pill one time and immediately went so hypoglycemic that he had to eat 10 donuts to recover. I looked it up and the drug doesn't even work that quickly and hypoglycemic reactions are extremely rare even with high doses.

If you belive the story of 4-5 women which honestly while sided it's hard not to infer at least a measure of truth to the whole story overall, Hubermann is a grade A player and fully capitalises on his overall smv to have multiple one sided monogamous realtionships going on over extended periods. It's hard to imagine that this level of deception and manipulation doesnt bleed into his overall character in every aspect of his life.

Based on what I read alone (again, it's not 100% accurate) he strikes me as someone that would be incredibly engaging and charming early in your friendship but would require you to do all the chasing with lots of dead ends - the kind of people I lose touch with becasue while I always make a good effort I have learned not to bother with these types anymore as they seem to feed on your validation despite disrespect to you e.g. they initiate a catch up but never actually make solid plans, or if they do they are something like "I'll call round about lunch time" and they get to your house at 4PM so you wasted a whole day waiting for them from 11:30AM or not answering/returning your calls when you have set made loose plans to catch up on a weekend.
