Because they’re better looking than the average Asian and if you expected to see Asians, you expect them to look sort of dorky and unsexy.
Fitness and appearance is a big deal in Korea South. It’s ingrained in the culture. Probably from the vestiges of American protection coupled with the pervasive Hallyu Wave.
