I've always fantasized about going back in time also and there are several eras in ancient history I'd like to witness.
If I had to choose only one I'd go back to 248 BC when Qin Shi Huang built the Terracotta Army.
I'd love to see how it was built and all the artifacts he buried along with the army itself.
The tomb is said to have a 'river of mercury' also but the tomb probably won't be opened in my lifetime....damn it.

Those are good examples, OP. If the future were an option, that to me would be the most interesting time to visit. We have created the field of history as humans to document and learn from the past, but it's impossible to tell the future

I am very interested in the middle ages. from around 1000-1300 or so.

Just cant help but wonder what the hell was going on back then. The stories, the grimms fairy tales and such, what the hell were they doing to keep those stories going for so long, most are pretty scary and make no sense to us modern thinking people. There has to be some basis in reality to them and I would like to see for myself what it is.
