Maybe we should embrace boredom a little more instead of distracting ourselves constantly.

For myself personally, it's a sign you're not busy enough or are not working towards your fullest potential. I can't remember what it feels like to be bored (dead srs). Feels like there's not enough time in a day to accomplish all I want to.

being bored is your brain looking for avenues to pursue dopamine releasing activities
dopamine is released when your pursue rewarding activities
being productive to better yourself, work towards a goal etc are the harder things to do
The Light Side These things take work
Studying /Leaning a skill
Meditating
Exercise
Socializing with people
The Dark Side Cheap empty and easy
Porn
Drugs
Gambling
Video Games
You get to choose how you satisfy the most basic part of your brain, and the resulting picture of your life will reflect these choices."we cannot be more sensitive to pleasure without being more sensitive to pain"

I find if I'm somewhere, say a waiting room, no phone, nobody to talk to, I could get bored but I close my eyes and just think, it's surprising the thoughts that come to mind when not distracted. It's good, it can make you more focused. Our lives can be too hectic and overstimulated!

Yes, particularly nowadays as we're constantly bombarded by information from every direction. That's why I love lifting. I've begun lifting in silence lately, no music. Usually I've got some old metal blaring on my boombox, but lately it's been like church. Very meditative. Just the sound of iron on iron.

I don't know about your brain, but I have to constantly barrage myself with information from the internet to be normal functioning person. If I go without the internet for awhile, I get dumber. Its happened before. Never again.
You are your thoughts. Life is perception, thoughts are perception, perception is reality ergo thoughts are reality, I think therefore I am.

My and boredom are old friends.
I think its healthy to experience lots of it to toughen you up to it.
Helps you learn a lot about yourself and keeps you focused on self improvement.
Not that you nee to go out of your way to be bored but you should be at least able to sit on a bus or sit in a waiting room or the like without having to stare at your phone all the time.
Once you can do this you will start noticing how addicted others are to having outside stimuli all the time. of course it puts you in a superior position should outage happen."To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda
