I'm like 75% done with my return. Looks like I'm cutting a five-figure check at the moment. That's after I paid $22,000(!!!) in property taxes last year.
Oh well.

Working through ours right now.
The little privately owned company my wife works for somehow fukked up her withholding and held waaaaaaaay less than should have been. Her paperwork is all good too, claiming 1 through out the year, married, etc. Several other people in that office are saying the same thing happened to theirs. Withholding like $6k in federal on a $80k salary.
Before entering her chit, I was getting a return of $77.......I had that chit damn near perfect.
We about to owe like $5k on top of our property taxes going up 33% this year......the 4th year in a row of double digit increase. Fuk em.....I aint paying.

Those ukrainian yachts arent going to buy themselves.
Do you have any idea how expensive it is to fill the tank of one of those 200 footers plus pay the staff and all. its crazy with inflation and all.
The docking fees in Monaco alone are crazy this time of year.
The least you can do is pay your fair share."To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Used H&R Block, what a mess. Preparer may or may not be a tweaker. Went from a small refund to owing 10 grand, prepared to pay the 10 grand. Could not review return after 2 weeks of run around with her. Finally stopped in to get it printed out, owe 16 grand. That's not right, another preparer goes through it with me "oh you made quarterly estimated tax payments?" Got that worked out, now owe 6 grand, got it printed out to review and sign since I can't see it online. Get an email an hour later "The IRS has accepted your return." Now I can actually see it online, says signature on file, we did not sign chit. This cost $516, wife says I want our money back.
Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.

Eesh I'm sorry. Similar story wife my wife's preparer the first year we were married. Never, ever get your taxes done by someone who isn't a CPA. Turbo Tax is a better option than unqualified preparers.
Cliffs version: our preparer had never heard of section 179 and said we had to depreciate the salon space we built over 30 years and that we owed $30k. lol. I went to a CPA and we got a refund.Last edited by LinuxJon; 03-22-2024 at 06:30 PM.
