why are some of the exercises on fierce 5 only 5 reps?

I was under the impression that a 5 rep scheme was more for strength gains and less for hypertrophy? are the exercises that are only 5 reps not for muscle building? I noticed that some of the exercises have more reps than that of course. I figure the program was probably for both so maybe that's why.

You're correct, anything <6 reps will only build strength & not muscle.

It’s literally impossible to build muscle with 5 reps. It’s never been done and never will. 6 rep master race crew.

Almost literally anything you do will build muscle. The difference between 5, 8, or 10 reps is for all intents and purposes irrelevant. Don't get hung up on those numbers. Just run the program as it's written.

Edit: These guys are messing with you my man. The body doesn't know the difference between 5 and 6 reps...

so I guess the fierce 5 program is supposed to have certain exercises that are dedicated to strength while some are dedicated to muscle? I always found it interesting that the body knows the difference. I've also heard that it's an 8 rep minimum to build muscle but I'm assuming that doesn't necessarily apply to bigger barbell exercises.

I honestly read and hear different things. I was watching a Jeff Nippard video, a fitness influencer who seems to be pretty popular and well preached and he's calling the 6 to 12 rep thing a myth, as in it's not necessarily required but also ideal. I assume I probably don't need to understand all the nuances as long as I'm following a good program that serves the purpose I want and am eating enough.

I think you should keep posting 50 threads every week asking how and why about every single thing you read online. Otherwise you won't be able to make any gains.

I used to do Max-OT which called for reps between 4-6 reps, but everyone knew you shouldn't do 5 reps. It's understood that even numbers only build mass. 4-6, 6-8, 10-12, even 20 rep squats.

    Sure!

Brand name / name of machine works

Photos are better because there are different versions but it's ok

Point is, your gym is sure to have what you need to get big if you don't want to use freeweights

Personally, I don't use freeweights much any more, but they were very good at getting me big when I started out

Eventually when you get strong enough, front squatting 400+ lbs for reps, it's just a better peace of mind using a machine, but it takes years to get there, most never get there

I do a lot of repairs to machinery and properties.

There are 3 mutually exclusive ways to do it:

    1. Cheap
    2. Quick
    3. Right

It's also like buying a car.

    It has to be affordable.
    It has to be reliable.
    It has to go fast.

You can only pick 2 of those ^^^ 3 things.

I had an argument with someone over the concept of supply and demand determining price. This was in regards to real estate. The argument ended when she declared that there's huge demand for cheap real estate and that it's not being supplied and therefore supply and demand is bunk. I just gave up at that point.
