I never played either, but my understanding is Nioh is more hardcore soulslike while Ronin is a lot more normie friendly which helps me. I cant do harcore soulslike

This. Its not as hardcore as Nioh but the combat is similar from my understanding. Seems like the combat is the best part about this game from what i understand. Theres a good review from Gameranx on youtube id recommend if you guys wanna know what this game is about. It will do fairly well. Its not a flop. Just dont dont like soulsborne games myself

this is accurate, it captures the awesome feeling of the combat from nioh and wo long without the annoying af over difficult bs of souls like games

This looks like a classic example of a game using PS3 graphics and just making a good old school type game. Its got PS3 written all over it. I dont usually give scores but im very harsh and drunk but this game is a 7/10 all day and thats a high score from me. Once it gets to $25 in 6 months it will be worth it for sure

I like the simplistic open world. Reminds me of the PS2 way of the samurai games where you have simple choices to make.

Every preview and review I hear on this game (and I just listened to another on my hike this morning) says it's "good". Above average combat, but very mid story and world, with bad graphics. Guess this will hit for you if you are looking for this type of game but will probably miss if not. I have heard so many Ghost of Tsushima comparisons for obvious reasons which say GoT is leaps and bounds a better game in nearly every category. I feel blessed to be playing GoT for the first time right now, and I'll probably play it through a 2nd time on NG+ on the hardest difficulty before playing Rise of the Ronin.

Yeah feels kind of retarded to include this message. I don't think anyone would confuse Rise of the Ronin with a historical biopic.

Looking at the gameplay videos I was thinking the game looked outdated. Low and behold.

BUT, I've played mid 70s games that turned out good IMO. Mad Max was a 69, but for me it was a solid 8. Alien Isolation was a 79, but a 9.5 in my eyes.


I'm still gonna watch this game closely and possibly give it a try.

Splatterhouse got a 4/10 on 360/ps3 and is a top 10 game that generation.
