Got a chance to sit in a few old beaters from the 2000's era and the sheet metals felt heftier. Like if I opened the door or hood, that chit felt like it weighed a ton compared to new cars today.
It seems like they are building paper thinned cars today and you're barely getting better mileage. A Corolla from 2004 gets the same mileage as a 2024 Corolla. Just smh.

Quality has gone down so much that a GM 3800 (3.8 liter pushrod V6) from the mid 2000s are more reliable than the Turbo I4 Dual Fuel Injection Dual Variable Valve Timing and Turbo V6 Dual Fuel Injection Dual Variable Valve Timing engines in many Toyotas and Lexuses in 2024.
The GM 3800 was always a very solid engine, it was the transmissions that were the weak link in those vehicles.
Naturally Aspirated Versions
Supercharged Version
Toyota 2.4 liter Turbo Inline 4 in 2024 Highlander is also in many other Toyota and Lexus vehicles.

The longer the duration of a collision the more energy that is transferred. You may not want to hear it but your daddy's metal rectangle he drove around was not actually safer. Car collisions of yesterday behaved more elastic. Car's that crumple increase the duration (normally measured in milliseconds as collisions in general are quick) of the collision.

Death inducing car crashes are a non issue. From USAtoday, "There are nearly 43,000 fatal crashes a year in the U.S., but there’s at least a glimmer of hope: The actual deadly car crash rate is less than 1%."
And that's not considering that you can increase your driving skills.🤴Supreme Self Esteem Crew

I agree, they're just nostalgic for me too. Born in 1985, was in highschool in 2000. They're just simpler and not loaded with technology and chit that's just going to break......and if it does break, it's cheap AF to fix.
List of cars I've owned, some as daily's, some as projects
1992 Pontiac Bonneville
2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport
2004 Ram 1500 regular cab 4x4
2002 Ford Escape
1998 Jeep Wrangler
2003 WRX STI
1972 Buick Skylark
2006 4Runner
Currently own.
2009 F150 Lariat 4door 4x4
1999 Mustang GT, Coyote Swapped with about $15k worth of other goodies, built for road course racing.
Want just because I'm a nostalgic idiot
2002 TransAm WS6
2000 Civic
2003 Tahoe
2000 Ranger
1995 F150 regular cab

Whereas was is the singular past tense of to be, were is used for both the third person plural past tense (they and we) and the second person past tense (you). In the past indicative, were acts similar to was. “They were at the store,” you could say, for example.

Fuark in on now 3800 engine thread. I had a GTP Daytona edition that was an incredible daily driver. After replacing the transmission (lol) and rebuilding the front end at 90k, that thing was a 29mpg cruiser for 80k miles. I only got rid of it to buy a G8.
