I recommend buying a telescope.
I only read thread titles and my own posts.

My girlfriends dad has a really expensive one, I don't know much about it truthfully other than it was expensive and he loves it.
We have taken it camping a couple times and it's really spectacular when you get out of the city lights.
One time I ate a bunch of mushrooms and was star gazing through it, that was really cool too.Sometimes I park in handicap spaces, while handicap people make handicap faces

Howdy Iron....
Being a life long science junkie, I've thought of how cool it might be to delve into that interest.
If I did take that plunge I'd guess it could be a bottomless fiscal abyss because I'd want to add on all kinds of gadgets and upgrades for the obvious reasons.
I also think that it would take some effort to find a location far away from any city lights.
Keep us informed?

100% agree, OP. Space is infinitely fascinating. Talk about a way of putting things in perspective and recognizing how insignificant and minuscule we are. Truly a drop in the vastest of oceans.

I've mentioned this before, but I used to volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America and one of the activities we did was to take the boys to an observatory. The guy who ran it was a personal friend through work and he let the boys get a lot more hands on with the equipment than he normally would. I had a really good group of 16-17 year old boys so that probably helped. My friend had a laser pointer that he would use to show where we were looking so you could compare the unaided view to the telescope view. In several instances he point out what looked to be stars with his laser pointer and then we would look through the telescope and find out we were actually looking at galaxies that were just so far away they appeared as single pin pricks to the unaided eye, but when you looked through the telescope there were as many stars in that pinprick as were observed to unaided eye in the entire night sky. Really made you feel small.

Get a laser too for star gazing.

I bought a telescope when I moved to Florida. Where I live there are no street lights, and houses are asked to not turn on outdoor lights, as the lights might confuse the turtles. So it is quite dark at night.
Then I learned Florida has a lot of itchy bugs that come out at night. The telescope looks nice on display in the TV room.

Had a cheap one as a kid and loved the sun filter I had. I follow lots of space news still but can't say I've gotten into astronomy. I love looking at astrophotography but it seems difficult to get into. Wife has a decent Nikon dslr. My kids are 8/6/2. Any recommendations for a way to include them?
Telescope?
Best way to display on a screen for them to see? DSLR mount to computer? Or should I have them use normal eyepiece?Tobacco prostitute

This seems like a decent reason to have a telescope. I assume you'd need some type of filter to see the upcoming eclipse?
