From the very beginning they never gave more than partial protection for just a few months because they're nowhere in the neighborhood of sterilizing vaccines. Even before mutation to the Delta virus it was known the vaccines provided very temporary, partial protection. Other vaccines last decades. Herd immunity could never apply to the Wuhan virus.

If every single person in the US got a jab in a month it would vastly decrease infections....for about 2 months, they'd start creeping up again slowly and in within a year the number of infections would be back to where they were. The Wuhan virus jabs seem to be following the subscription model.

From the start of the Wuhan virus vaccinations ~50,000 of the general public had to be jabbed to end up saving 1 life (obviously with time as a constant function, as to be expected). The problem is the jabs from the start killed vastly more than 1 in 50,000 people who got them. This wasn't an unknown from the Pfizer trials data in 2020. It was quite clear in 2020 that it made sense to jab the elderly, maybe some fat middle aged people. The jabs were sold to the public as being able to provide herd immunity as so many other vaccines do.

You can wax on about how no vaccine is 100.00% perfect since people's individual biology are different but that's irrelevant to herd immunity as almost everyone knows. These Wuhan virus jabs were never going to be more than a bandage on a wound, but Pfizer and Moderna sold them to the public and media as though they were going to bring the Wuhan virus down to a miniscule level, while aware that was not possible.

At it's heart, it comes down to a semantic argument and interpretation (i.e., IPAC programs in healthcare settings).

I think many prematurely jumped the gun on making overly confident statements based on the initial data. I think it was that overconfidence and poor communication that opened the door who grifters who saw the opportunity for notoriety.

While it's disappointing effectiveness was reduced beyond the initial variant, I still think the vaccines helped. I also think relying on vaccines alone was a mistake.

I agree. I remember in January 2020, a certain orange president enacted a travel ban with China due to it being recognized as a COVID hotspot. Unfortunately it got met with a ton of cries of 'racism' and a certain party of 'science' submitted a bill to repeal the travel ban from the COVID hotspot a few month later.
