I could follow it but it became far too focused on his issues with the government. I have seen documentaries that have done a far better job of covering the creation of the nuclear bomb, and they kinda jumped all over the place at times as well. They didn't make it easy to follow due to the way they presented it.

Often I read the Wikipedia plot or real life story while watching a movie so I can understand it. That was necessary with this. 2 different court/enquiry scenes taking place in the future, plus the main story in the past.
After the wartime urgency eased off, a McCarthyist government guy fcked Oppenheimer over due to his pinko links in academia, and that came back to hurt the government guy when he was shooting for a high government role because in the end everyone knew Oppenheimer was a high achiever who helped end the war.
If you didn't know that much the story would have been hard to follow.Nocrew crew

Has nothing to did with it & everything to do with Nolan being unable to develop/explain characters. I have up after 30 minutes-because he hadn't given any insight into him at all & was just loud & flashy visuals to make up for it, it is directed like a music video. I had the same problem with the Batman film he did-it was straight from one fight into the next-without any time to breathe, nor did he make you care about the characters-it was all about the look & noise.
This is supposed to be a biopic aimed for the masses who don't know that much about him, not people really into the guy. If after 30 minutes you cannot tell me anything about his childhood or adolescence, his family, why he sucks at the physical lab work, why he tries to murder his teacher & why he is getting applauded for the other guy splitting the atom etc, then I am not going to watch another 2 & a half hours of your autistic visuals.AP5 Crew
