https://www.fairwork.gov.au/pay-and-wages/minimum-wages
The National Minimum Wage applies to employees not covered by an award or registered agreement. This is the minimum pay rate provided by the Fair Work Act 2009 and is reviewed each year.
As of 1 July 2023 the National Minimum Wage is $23.23 per hour or $882.80 per week.
Employees covered by an award or registered agreement are entitled to the minimum pay rates, including penalty rates and allowances in their award or agreement. These pay rates may be higher than the National Minimum Wage.

Australia's minimum wage is 23 dollars per hour...how come America's is still 7.25?

Well let’s try to actually critically think here
Since 1 usd = .66 Australian dollars. That 23 is actually more like 15
Since Australia has a population of 26million
Let’s say the state of California alone with a higher minimum already bumps your entire country into insignificance.
America has over double your entire fukking population living in areas with higher minimum wage than your country.
We also have rural areas with low costs of living where people can live off less. It’s such a retarded talking point and you didn’t even have the decency to do currency conversions.“Man’s image of the nature of man is not only a matter for objective inquiry; it is and has always been a prime instrument of social and political control. He who moulds that image does so with enormous consequences for the society in which he lives.”

So now I’m retarded for not bringing up social issues in a topic about minimum wage? You just going to completely change the subject and use that to refute a point about misleading statistics on the actual thread topic while also insulting my line of thought?
That’s some bullchit“Man’s image of the nature of man is not only a matter for objective inquiry; it is and has always been a prime instrument of social and political control. He who moulds that image does so with enormous consequences for the society in which he lives.”

Nope
When comparing minimum wages, in addition to exchange rates you would have to factor in other non-wage financial benefits that are received through the tax and transfer system, such as universal healthcare or other income support arrangements
The person on minimum wage in Australia earns more than twice the US minimum wage in US dollars, and also receives much more than that in government benefits
In most cases people on minimum wage would pay zero taxes, and most likely receive several subsidiesBy reading this post you acknowledge r32gojirra is an online persona and all posts by r32gojirra are satirical in nature. I don't know if you've noticed, but most places even in low cost of living areas are offering pretty solid wages to get people in for poverty jobs like fast food and line retail work. The local Target is paying people like $18 an hour or some chit to run cash registers and stock shelves.
It's the middle class that got fukked over the past few years. Our wages have been far outpaced by inflation (we didn't get our wages basically doubled to tripled over covid like lower class jobs did), our taxes are worse than ever, and people tell us we should just shut up and be happy with it.

Minimum wages are a terrible idea. They artificially keep wages low is a capitalistic society, as most employers pay the minimum when they would otherwise be higher in a free market.
As with most regulations, it's a way for politicians to gain votes while actually making things worse for the people they claim to represent.

So you glass over the shooting and woke agenda you threw in there as if you never said it.
Pretend asking for equivalent exchange rate for equal comparison then requires a concession of consideration for how taxes are spent as if that can gloss over the fact you were bringing up multiple social points. Then once again change the goalposts.
mental gymnastics of you trying to obfuscate previous claims while bolstering a new angle is fun to watch, but ultimately its sophistry. Whatever makes you feel good I guess.“Man’s image of the nature of man is not only a matter for objective inquiry; it is and has always been a prime instrument of social and political control. He who moulds that image does so with enormous consequences for the society in which he lives.”

Let's be reality here.
No one pays minimum wage, it's more like $15+ an hour now, just go into a fast food place and see what the strating wage is.
The only ones who make minimum are waiters, but they also make tips so it's probably closer to $20 an hour.Italian Crew

Sure let’s just forget that all countries allied with America have universal healthcare because the US taxpayer subsidizes weak countries military. We should pull back from the world and spend half what we do on the military for border patrol and rounding up illegals and shipping them back to their home country. Then even if it’s not tax payer funded the healthcare demand will drop drastically lowering prices back to 1990 levels (which absolutely mogged universal healthcare taxes in other countries). Then countries like Australia would have to fund their own navies to handle chinese and russian expansionism and of course that money has to come from somewhere so it’s either higher taxes or no more universal healthcare or subsidized schooling, I guess your choice.
You pha gs, should be bowing down and paying tribute to the US taxpayer for keeping you safe at night, god knows your pathetic country is incapable of doing it yourselves.*Updated* If you can't hit a 320 yard drive, are you even a man?
