US needs better digital privacy laws. Right now, we basically have nothing; the closest we have are a handful of state laws as well as FTC enforcement actions that can be taken against companies that violate their own internal consumer data protection promises. The focus on TikTok as the only bad guy seems designed to distract from the fact that some of the anti TikTok lobbying is funded by companies that have their own issues with propaganda and data privacy abuses.

No Tic Tok here but I've been enjoying FB reels that were basically lifted from there. Some amazing content but a lot of fake chit as well.
One I recently saw was from "the beverly hills drama club." Girl in hospital, has cancer, boyfriend proposes, doc says "Congrats you're cancer free." All fake. I think that fake BS waters down actual user content to where you don't know what's real anymore.Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.
