Grill/Smoker brehs, what grill do you use?

Been wanting to learn how to grill/smoke for meal prep.

Was thinking of a small weber, but then learned about Kamado type grills. They're easier for smoking. Not sure which to pick really. A lot of people seem to lean towards weber all day everyday.

Just depends on what and how much of it I am cooking.

I have a smoker that I built out of 24" sch.40 steel pipe that can cook up to 6 briskets at the same time... but obviously firing that thing up for a small portion is pretty time consuming... so if i am just throwing on some chicken or steak I have Trager Ironwood 885 that is flat out fkn amazing at what it does...

Get a Weber 22.5 inch kettle grill. A top of the line will cost you $265. It will last a life time. Get the one with one touch cleaning system. You can also get a used one on Fa ce book marketplace for about $100. Clean it up, by a new grate and it will last you forever.

Mine is 9 years old. I smoke briskets up to 7 lb, turkeys, ribs, chicken. It's all you need.

I'm a weber kettle guy. I have four, different sizes, etc. THEY DO NOT LAST A LIFETIME! But you can get a solid 15+ years out of them. I have different accesories for each one. They are a bit touchy when it comes to regulating temperature, really easy to do in good weather, but you need to pay attention to what is happening in bad weather.

If you are just starting get yourself a Weber, simple one, save some money and have fun!!

For versatility Komodo or webber kettle

You can use those two devices for grilling, smoking, pizzas, etc...

I have a smoker, a blackstone and a BGE. If I was only able to have one, it would be BGE all the way.

A Traeger Lil Tex I bought used over 10 years ago. The main controller went out once, $30 on Amazon I got a knock off and its been great ever since. I believe mine was one of the last ones to be made in the US before they went the China route.

Its about to the end of its life. It will be replaced by another pellet grill. I can't go back to propane and charcoal is a hassle.

Brb, turn a knob to whatever temp and forget about it.

These pellet grills are essentially a convection oven with smoke. I have cooked almost anything you can cook in the oven on my grill and its always a upgrade. Pizza, brownies, enchiladas, etc.

cook cook cook. i make briskets and smoked turkey breasts a few times per year. no problems if you aren't going hardcore

I live in an apartment with no outdoor space and no grills or anything like that.

i take my little foldable one to the local park with my little green propane bottle. Works great.

i have to put it in a box so the wind doesnt affect it too much, i live by the beach so its always breezy.

This is what I was thinking, just a smaller version. People seem to think a basic webber is better though, idk.


Miscer above already brought up green egg. Too expensive for a starter like me. I was thinking Akorn Jr for $170.
