He's more like Susan Collins. He'll support the Dems on social issues, but he'll side with Repubs on economics. And as a Senator, he could be a good ambassador for the party, campaigning over the country and helping raise money for downballot races etc.

I actually like Hogan, and a lot of both republicans and democrats do too. He's rather middle of the road, but more importantly, he didn't really seem to give a fuk who the president is or was at any given time. He understood his job was to govern Maryland and try to do what was best for the people of Maryland, and that's what he did (not to be confused with Baltimore and their lovely situation, including the mayor(s)). Instead of other mayors and governor who stood up on their platforms screaming about this national problem and that national problem. Like dudes, stfu up, put your heads down and do your job.

in addition he was the calm level headed ( voted upon) leader of the governors association at stage 1 of covid and did a great job with daily updates and rational level headed policy.
