This Monday night of Feb. 5, it was snowing first, and then suddenly we saw a lightning bolt flash through the sky and heard the rumbling of the following thunder.
It was fun to watch it from a safe place at home.
Snow and lightning simultaneously, it's the first time in my 64-year-life.
You'll never know everything in your short life.
Ever have you experienced something like this?

That's amazing Kaz, something that many people never experience.
I have experienced Thunder snow a few times but never seen lightening with it. Lucky you!
It sounds like you enjoyed the show my friend. Excellent stuff!Air Force Veteran 1976 - 1999 - Cannabis Enthusiast since the 1960's

I haven't seen it, but got curious so googled it. Seems we got the thunder thing without lightning close to here mid January and found several articles for it from different locations. But rare with the lightning - Stockholm had it in November 2022, and Helsingborg (south) in 2017 as far as I can tell. Probabaly need luck and some good weather app to catch that on camera.
In A Book of Five Rings, Musashi Miyamoto tells us everyday samurai to not sleep under a roof. Make an exception today, friend.

Nope, but the odds of me looking outside or being outside to see it are very slim.
We have had thunder snow before as a kid, but lightening snow, no.
That reminds me of some alien or Godzilla movie.Last edited by x-trainer ben; 02-17-2024 at 12:03 PM.

Have seen it from a distance, looking up from a campsite at peaks above as the weather rolls in, thunder and lightning in the clouds and I know it was snowing up there.
I've been in thunder + lightning+ hail stones (diagonally due to very strong wind) several times - no shelter, unpleasant! not a good time to be on a ridge or standing near the top of something.. Run Away! Run Away!
But never heard of this in a non mountainous area like Tokyo!!
