Excellent... we can all quietly shrink back into sub-mediocre lives and get even more entertainment from our phones. You can stop with that silly outdoors thread now, no need for that, I'll add AI generated snow drifts and beavers to to my daily commute.

Edit: maybe I'm being overly negative? When I was first told what an iPhone was, I was not impressed as it was nothing new, phones already exist and smartphone already exist but nobody wanted them. But iPhone (in 2024 sales) account for 24% of the world's phones!!! So obviously I massively missed their significance. Also in end of 1992 someone showed me mosaic (first web browser) and again I didn't understand what was a big deal and pictures were just a gimmick. In 1993 someone wanted me to be a business partner to setup an internet service provider (ISP) I needed to supply a powerful air conditioner as my buy-in. He went ahead and I didn't as I just couldn't understand or be persuaded why people would want computers at home. This is all 100% serious! No BS.

So I think my first reaction to technology might always miss the point. Read my first post carefully and take the exact opposite opinion - opposite of what I think is the future for sure!

    LOL

I have always welcomed/embraced new technology and look for ways that I can incorporate it into my lifestyle. As an example, I was the first one of all my colleagues/friends to have a GPS (used for hunting/fishing) A Cell phone, the Bag Model) I could use it on the lake to call home if needed, I could use it from my Trap line and other adventures as well, I just had to ride several miles to the tallest hill to use it) It was a great and got me out of a few jams. Also one of the first in my circle to have a fish finder and I haven’t been without one since and usually had several, still do. Just to mention a few, it’s how I roll, if it works for me I am all over it like a fly on sh!t.

Would I get into something like the Apple vision pro? Not yet, they need to advance a bit more and they will and I don’t think it will be long either. The thought of throwing on a pair of glasses and having the power of a laptop in my glasses is very appealing. This is a relatively hands free device where I could possibly use my GPS, Fish Finder, cell phone and other technology in my daily adventures. Yeah, I’d sign up for that.

If you think about it, Aircraft have incorporated Heads Up Displays for decades, allowing pilots to see information and maintain their outside field of view. Although the vision goggles aren’t exactly the same but have similarities.

I wear ski type goggles a lot all year, in the winter because of the cold and in the summer because of the flies as well as protection when riding ATV’s and Dirt bikes so wearing something like their current configuration they have wouldn’t bother me, however I would prefer something smaller like normal glasses that I could put Goggles over top if needed. (that’s what I do now)

That technology isn’t far away in my opinion and when it happens you will see Pockets cruising down the lake wearing them with a big grin on his chops and it’s not because I am watching porn or stoned behind those shades, I mean it could be but it’s probably because I just saw a big fish on the finder or all of the above

Buy Apple Stocks people, you may just make a few bucks and help Pockets reach his dream faster

Amazing what is coming out these days, living in an almost Ready Player One/Blade Runner world. As cool as it all is, I really want no part of it. All I see are people glued to their phones now, imagine never even being able to make eye contact with people.

Same here, but I don't even think it is all that cool. Who wants to wear a bulky goggles around everywhere? I don't think people are drawn to tech that they have to put over their face. Google Glasses went nowhere, people hated the Meta goggle headset thing they were forced to wear in order to participate in Zuckerdork's Meta VR nightmare. I just can't see these goggles being anything other than a novelty item for hardcore technophiles.

I agree I am not convinced they'll ever be able to normalize this sh*t, but if anyone can do it Apple is probably the one.

I’m not wearing that thing in downtown Manhattan but I think this one minute video of more-or-less real world usage around the house is interesting if the size and price come down.

IMO Apple probably should have leaned more into the fact that it can keep windows locked in place spatially. Pinning apps to various places around your home seems compelling to me, probably more than anything Apple has actually been advertising, and wasn't possible with any prior headsets.

Yeah, that does look cool, but to be honest, I would hate wearing a set of goggles like that...just feels too bulky and intrusive. If they could reduce it to the size of a pair of wraparound glasses or something, then old crotchety geezers like me might be more open to them.

I recently found out about the Apple Vision Pro and thought it looked pretty cool. Being a music producer, I looked at it from a different angle, wondering how it could enhance the way I produce and interact with music. The immersive experience and the possibility of visualizing soundscapes in a more interactive way caught my attention. So, I decided to get one and see for myself. It's been an interesting journey using it. The device has actually opened up new ways for me to approach music production, especially when it comes to mixing and arranging tracks. It feels like I'm inside the music, making adjustments in real-time. For anyone curious about how to blend technology with music creatively, Music with Apple Vision offers some unique benefits that are worth exploring.
